I have been giving my son flinstone vitamins for about 1 1/2 yrs . I now realized that they are no good. They have aspartane and fd&c yellow # 6 and red #40 dyes in them and they are not good but are allowed in small doses. Apparently cause ADHD and hyperactivity. I looked up these dyes and read that they are cancer causing. I know everything is these days, but I decided to throw out my flinstones and get something without aspartane and those dyes in it. Some dyes have been banned and these 2 should of been too but are still allowed cause its in small doses. If you give something in small doses to a small child over a long period of time wouldnt it most certainly cause something later? I don't know about you but I am horrified about this information that I have just learned.

My son also takes the Flistones My First Vitamins. We have since he was about 18 months. I can't claim that they help him 'not get sick' but I can claim that he is getting all the proper minerals and vitamins he needs!! Like his doctor said, Vitamins cant hurt only help!

My son is 30 months and takes flintstones vitamins. He has since I stopped breastfeeding him at 12 months.. He loves them.. He also eats a well balanced diet. Rarely gets sick, even when he's around other children who are under the weather.

I personally have never thought of giving either of my children multivitamins. Encourage a varied diet and active life and it should come naturally.

I have my daughter taking the Flinstones "my first vitamins" she takes one every day and loves it... She gets a cold every few weeks so I'm considering asking her doctor for something else to hopefully calm down the colds because they get so bad that she need nebulizer treatments because the cold ends up in the lungs and gets close to nuemonia and it's no fun! If all else fails and you're not sure what to do, it doesn't hurt to ask the doctor. Good luck!
