When did your baby start walking? Also, how much are they talking?

My son is 14 months old on the 15th of September and he is not yet walking. He really doesn't seem to have any interest in walking whatsoever. He is crawling very fast though. He is also talking a tiny bit but I am worried that it isn't enough. He says mama, daddy, and dog. I am concerned that he is behind in his development. I would love to hear about your kids and where they are developmentally. Please take the time to tell me your stories. Thanks!

My daughter is 14 months and 1 week. She was walking at 10 months but I have friends with July babies that just started walking or have not yet. He sounds right on track :)

My daughter started walking and running at 10 months but the Dr said that was REALLY rare. She only says momma dadda and dog, hi and Mike (her God father) but is trying to say good girl, and thank you. ALL of those words (except momma and dadda) are within the last 2 weeks... it's like she just decided to talk one day. Then I had a dream that she was talking to me like a 5 year old... lol. Lots of kids don't walk until they're 18 months. Your son is NOT behind. He's just content and that's ok too! He'll develop fast than others when he's 3 and then slower when he's 5... all kids have peaks and valleys in the development but they all meet in the middle eventually. I would worry if he wasn't crawling, but he is... so you're ok! =) He's loving life! That's all! =)

My girl started walking at 9 months, but don't stare blindly at these milestones. Every child is different. Some kids don't start walking till they're 20 months or older.

Every child is different. Olivia is 13 months old and can only say mama and dada. She was walking at 10 months. She's very observant though and is a very fast learner. She climbed our stairs once and even though she can't talk yet she knows how to tell you what she wants by pointing and grunting. Sometimes when she points it sounds like she's trying to say "what's that?". But again every child is different and a friend of mine told me that girls mature faster than boys. Her son is 2 weeks younger than Olivia and he's not walking yet either. Is your son standing on his own yet? Olivia was crawling and pulling herself up the same week when she was 9 months old. Once she found out she could stand on her own she was ready to move! I also stood behind her and held both hands to lead her down the hallway. So I think that sped things up. You could try that and cheer for him when you get to the end of the hallway and maybe it'll peak his interest. But don't worry he'll walk when he's ready. Hope this helps.

My son is 13 months and started walking just after his first birthday. He babbles A LOT but doesn't say too many real words. He says mama and dada and sometimes it sounds like he is saying 'this' and 'ya'. I was a little concerned too about the talking but they will do it at their own rate. They are still a little young. I believe that my son was late walking too cuz he was a fast crawler. He is just comfortable with that and I'm sure its fine

My daughter is 14 months on september 25th and she also isnt walking. When i try to encourage her with her push along toys etc, she always goes on her tippy-toes and never stands flat. I was worried about her development but i keep getting told all babies develop at different stages, which is annoying because everyone i know with children the same age are doing more!! She can say mama daddy and baby and can let us know if she wants something but apart from that she cant talk very much, just gibberish!

My daughter started walking at 10 months. She is now 13 months and says around 16 words. All kids develop differently though and im sure your son is absolutely fine. Some kids dont walk until 18 months. If he isn't walking by then id get him checked.

Don't feel bad. My son will alsp be 14 months on the 15th and still shows no interest in walking. He can pull up, crab walk around the furniture and climb stairs. I'm not worried as he'll get there when he gets there. He has the capability just doesn't want to, lol. I'm going to enjoy this stage while it lasts as he's hard to keep up with now!

All kids are different. As long as he is pulling up on things everything is fine. I wouldn't worry. He will do it when he is ready. My Daughter turned 14 months on the 1st still isn't walking. She talks alot though. She talks as much or more than my friends daughter who is 18 months old. I was told by a nurse who heard from her ped that kids can't develope two parts of their brains at once. They either work on talking or walking first- but not both together. If you are worried you can always ask your ped to check him out. I think both our babies will walk when they are ready. I know for my daughter it is a confidence issue.

Gage is my early walker, at 11 months but my other boys didn't walk till 14 months. Gage doesn't say much just a few words, but I swear he say's more at least it sounds like it. He mimic the sound the word makes but doesn't quiet make the word. I know we can't wait for them to hit these milestones and then when they do you can't turn them off. lol I love my babies being babies.

My son will be 14 months on Sept 21. He started walking at 10 months and now hes running climbing on everything and learning the stairs. He says about 10-15 words right now. But mostly mumbling and gibberish. He counts to three but i don't think he realizes it, its just more that he hears us counting when him or my niece are doing something wrong. His development seemed to pick up once I had him around more kids. We live with his 3 year old cousin and he mocks her soo much. Like if anyone points there finger at him and says no! get down! he'll point his finger back and say no no no and some gibberish lol. I think the reading (almost) every night and constantly talking to him helped too.

Hudson is 14 months on 9/15 and is just barely taking multiple steps on his own - just in the last week, he really started trying to do it more, but he still goes back to fast crawling or walking on his knees if he gets frustrated. It just takes a while for them to accept that walking is a little slower than crawling at first - my 3 1/2 yo was 13 months also when he started walking...it'll happen, just be patient!

He's also starting to say some words - he mostly sounds them out at this point ("sssss" for shoes, "chhhh" is cheese, "mmmma" for our dog Luma, etc.) - he's saying "mama" clearly, though - yay! Again, patience...it all happens when they're ready. :)

Mylee is 14months old and she has been walking since she was 10months old..she runs and climbs on everything but she doesnt say a whole lot either..she mostly says mama but she can say dada and bye bye but other than that she just babbles and screams and points when she wants something so i think we are all safe to say that its just not time for them to start talking yet..i was worried to but i guess they just arent ready yet..

Hi I have two boys and they are the perfect example of how kids develope differently. My oldest didn't start walking until 15months, he's nearly 3 now and is physically the same as any other kid his age.My youngest is just crazy fast and took his first steps just before he turned 7months. He's now 14 months and can run, jump and climb. So I don't thing you have anything to worry about just yet.

my daughter was born july 16th. She began to walk about 2 weeks after her 1st birthday. She would walk along the walls and then that day she let go and went from there. it happened real fast. Does your son walk along the walls? Everyone is different though. My daughter babbles a lot and says mom dad dog kitty owie duckie but not when you ask her to :)
