Each baby is different. My baby girl has been holding her head up since the day she was born. She has always had a very strong neck. She's 11 weeks old now and when she is laying on her back, she always is pulling her head/back up, trying to get into a sit-up position. Like I said, all babies are different, but if you are really concerned, I'd recommend bringing it up at your next doctor appointment.

my daughter has been holding up her head since birth but i babysat for my friend's son and he was almost 3 months before he held his head steady I guess it just depends on how motivated your child really is but nothing to worry about

I have 9 week old twins. My girl can hold her head up but my boy is a little behind... I guess it depends. Tummy time is definitely good if you're impatient but as with all things... Babies all vary and they'll all do it when they are ready.

My son was born being able to hold his head up.. He didn't have the floppy baby neck I was used to with siblings/cousins...Every baby is different but he should be able to hld it up for a little bit when on his tummy... The more he practices the stronger he will get. He should be able to sit up by himself between 5 and 6 months. But, again, each baby is different. You may wake up one day and he will try to crawl. =)
