Update: My son is now 10 lbs 8 oz (will be 4 months on 11/15), so he is gaining slowly. He has horrible reflux and his jaundice finally cleared up after forever. He is going to be a small little boy!

My bub was 6.6lb at birth, but has since put on 2lb a month, or there abouts. I have BF exclusively and am quite happy with her progress.

Born at 7lbs 3oz
Day after leaving hospital 6lbs 13oz
One month check-up 10lbs 10oz!!
In a couple days is his 2 month checkup and won't be surprised if hes over 12lbs!
My first baby didn't gain so fast, was 12lbs at about 3-4months, so i'm really amazed at my second little porky!
Both were only breastfed.

both my kids were/ are exclusively breastfeed my Daugther was born with 9 lbs and measured 19 inches with last than 6 months she was 20 lbs. My son is just 2 months old now weighting 14.5lbs and measuring 24.25 inches. He was born with 8.13lbs.
Every baby is different but it looks like everyone loses a little bit before start to gain.As parents we tend to worry about our little ones but in the end everything goes fine .
Good job parents

My son was 7.1 at birth ... he dropped down a couple pounds but has piled it on since so I'd be the worst one to ask ... he's the local porky boy! Saying that ... my daughter put weight on VERY slowly in her first couple months!

My baby girl was born at 8 lbs. 8 oz. and at one day she went down to 7.14 and now at 7 weeks old she weighs 10 lbs, 13 oz. as of Aug. 16, 2010. Just feed your baby on demand. Your baby should be back to his birth weight by now. Check with his doc.

I have the same problem with my guy. He was born at 10 pounds 3 oz, and at two weeks he was down to 9 12. Then a week later he only gained 2 oz's. I am not breast feeding due to a surgury that prevents me. But I was super worried. The nurse told me that sometimes with larger babies they loose more and have a harder time putting it back on. I really hope that is the case. Either way, I am tracking his intake of food to hopefully give us better insight.

My son took almost four weeks to get back to birth weight. My doctor didn't seem overly concerned since he's pretty much exclusively breastfed, but we were all relieved when his appointment this week had him over his birth weight of 8lbs 3oz!

My son reached 7 lbs 10 oz today at almost 5 weeks, so he is gaining slowly but surely!! They are going to keep an eye on him though because he is still really small for his age!

Mine was born at 7.14, and was up to 9.3 when they weighed him a week and a half ago. I breastfeed, and am having no problem with him gaining weight. This is the exact opposite of what I went through with my daughter 3 yrs ago. She lost a pound over the weekend when I first brought her home from the hospital, and it took months for her to gain it back. She is still petite at 3 1/2, and has been somewhere between 28-31 lbs for a year and a half now. She keeps getting taller, but doesn't gain much weight.

Aww, good luck! My little guy has put on almost a whole lb! That seems a bit excessive for being only two weeks old but the doctor wasn't concerned. The good thing is your little one didn't LOOSE weight. Hopefully everything checks out ok.

Still at 6.13, they want him to see a GI specialist just in case something is not going right. They also think the jaundice may be causing issues, so it is still up in the air right now :-/

I am breastfeeding, but I started pumping and doing the bottle since I wanted to monitor what he is eating since he is having a hard time with latching. At one point in the hospital he was 6.10 and he was discharged at 6.12. They are having us come in today to evaluate and see if he needs to see a GI specialist. I am just worried that something is wrong with him!! I did have to supplement some formula at one point ebecause his jaundice was bad and he kind of didn't really eat much because he was so backed up, I am wondering if that messed up his weight gain too, we will see what they say today!

Mine is at 8.11. He was born at 8.13 and his lowest weight was 8.10 in hospital. Is your baby BF or formula fed? I've heard BF babies have a harder time at first gaining weight back (I have done no research on it). Is the doctor concerned? What was your babies lowest weight?
