My son will turn 4 on the 29th of June. He still takes a sippy cup of milk at night before bed. It is our snuggle time and he has to have it. I have tried in the past to take it away but he just cries and I feel so bad I give in. It doesn't do any harm but I know there is a time you are suppose to take them off. If Supernanny came here she would ball me out...lol.

My son is still using a sippy cup too. With two large dogs in the house drinking from and knocking things over, I didn't consider that he is supposed to stop using a sippy cup. I don't want open cups unless closely supervised at dinner or in a restaurant or someplace away from the dogs.
What do you use? Can someone tell me the urgency for
him to stop drinking from a sippy? It is convenient, no spill and dogs can't drink from it. He drinks from a juice box and straw cup just fine too. Are their reusable cups with straws to be found?

My son takes a sippy cup of water to bed with him at night. I have a glass of water beside the bed and having it in a sippy prevents it from getting spillled. I know I'll have to quit some time but he shares a room with a 2 year old brother so if was anything else it I would have a mess.

You need to replace it with what he thinks is something better. Take him along to buy his very own 'night time cup' . Let him pick it out and explain to him that this is his special cup that is used just for night time. Things like this works a treat for my daughter.

I understand you don't want him to cry but you have to just take it away. He will soon stop crying and need something to drink and thats when you give him a big boy cup made especially for him. Buy a cup with maybe his name on it or his favorite characters that he would maybe like when you do it though.
