Potty training, Ugh! Some days are wonderful and some are not. What is the secret?

Some days my little guy will straight for the bathroom/potty chair and other days it's like he forgot what to do. I believe he should be in big boy pants by now. Is it really true that boys are harder to potty train?

I TRIED TO POTTY TRAIN OLIVER TWICE, THE FIRST TIME WAS NASTY. BUT THEN I STOPPED FOR A MONTH WHEN I GOT MARRIED LAST YEAR AS WE HAD THE WEDDING AND WAS MOVING TRIED AGAIN AFTER THAT, AND AS HE IS READY HE JUST DID IT. NIGHT AND DAY. ITS ALL ABOUT WHEN THEY ARE READY NOT WHEN YOU ARE. HOPE THAT HELPS. OR ANOTHER THING YOU CAN DO IS JUST TAKE THE NAPPY AWAY.

I had a hard time training my ds as well. I finally decided to just go straight to underwear, I totally agree that it is the best way to train. The pull ups wick away the moisture so my ds would only go potty when "he" felt like it. Once I put him the underwear he felt wet and uncomfortable. We had a few puddles for the first few days and then for the next week he would pee a little not enough to soak thru to the floor, hold it and run to the potty. He was fully day trained in 2 1/2 weeks, I was shocked at how quickly he caught on and wish I had done this sooner! Pull ups are sooo expensive! We are still using pull ups at night and we are now limiting his night time liquids and he is starting to wake up dry. We also bought the peter potty urinal, this helped us sooo much. I do believe it is easier to train boys to stand up to pee. Good Luck, wishing you some potty success!

I had my boy first and i think it is much harder to potty train boys then girls. I finally had to let him go outside to pee on a tree everytime he had to go. That is the only time he would go potty. After about 3 months of him going outside I told him that every time he went in the big potty I would give him a penny. That worked beautifully. Hope it is some help.

Hi there

This was a hard one for me but you just got to suck it up and continue with it. dont put nappies on they need to feel the difference yeah you will get accidents here and there but thats the only way they will learn. what i did was place the potty in the lounge room where she would be most of the time so she had quick access to it and then slowly keep moving it closer to where the toilet is as you progress through the week you need to keep reminding her every half hour to go to the potty and you go to so she thinks to her self oh mummy's going so will i then even if you pretend to go to the toilet and sit in there with her. and now she is fully potty trained and it took me 2 weeks and its been 6 months since then and she just turned 3 on friday.

So stick to your guns and keep following through so she gets use to the new system of using the potty/toilet.

good luck :)
