I starte training joseph, born june 15th, when was a year and a half, he didnt hate it but, didn't care for it, when he was two i started training him again. He was a great listener but said he liked his diapers, he def didnt like it when i just made him sit there, an idea i dont really like anyway, so three months later i started training him again and when he was two and a half he fully understood the idea, he gradually stopped peeing his pants, and two months later he was fully trained! :D im so proud of him, such a quick learner.

Amiyah has been potty trained just before christmas, it was a very hard process for her since she is "strong minded". What we did was made a potty chart for her and when she went she got to put a sticker on the chart, then we gave her a treat a piece of candy or something small that she really wanted. It wasnt long before she did it all by herself and no more potty chart. It was tiring for all of us but we got it done.

my daughter was potty trained at 18 months old , it took a couple of weeks and wasnt dry at night for a month , she was scared of the potty at first but after she had done it once she reaslised that it was ok. good luck to any one potty training at the moment , its takes as long as it takes and every child gets to grip withit at there own time . My boys who are older now were really slow at potty training compared to my girl too. so parents of boys who are having differculty , try not to stress about it too much ... boys can be lazy! lol

My son Casper will be 3 on June 25th. We are still slowly trying to train. He gave me hell about it for a while so I don't like to force him. I usually have him sit on his potty while he is watching something he likes on tv. He has peed about 4 times and I have praised him like crazy. But it's still slow-going. He is at least not freaking out like he used to do. He flat-out refused to sit (this boy hates feeling tied down) but now he will sit for 20 mins and not give me problems. I am thinking about getting rid of the pullups too since everybody is saying that it helps a lot. Don't want to force him at all but I think he is ready to move forward.

My daughter will be 3 on June 28th and just recently potty trained. NO accidents since the Wednesday after Easter. It took a couple days for her to want to poo-poo in the potty, but once she did, we've had no more problems at all! We also had a prize system in place. I did end up having to take the pull-ups away the day after Easter though. She was doing pretty good before that but, it was a bit of a hassle til I took them away.

You should never put your foot down and try to force your children to use the potty. Every child is different. Going to the bathroom is one of the last things that a toddler can control and we all know everything is a power struggle with 2 and 3 years olds. Koen will be three on June 1st and has no desire to go on the potty. I do not sweat it in the least...look at it this way... he or she will be trained before highschool..dont worry about it.

Boo will be 3 on june 14. i think we started after Christmas time. i don't know why but i was very uptight about it. but as long as you are armed w/a Swiffer Wet Jet, a can of Upholstery/Carpet cleaner, a potty dvd/book combo, stickers or small candies, extra undies, pants and socks in the diaper bag, a portabe potty for the car, new undies they like then you have all you need for them to succeed. keep track of their natural diaper habits and fit the training into their schedule so they can succeed. when i was focused on poop training, i would feed her Mini Bites Shredded Wheats and Orange Juice (half w/water) for breakfast; let her run around the house dancing to her favorite music so things would happen. or i'd fill her up w/juice, juice and more juice for pee training. keep just a shirt and socks on them and let them do their regular thing. the key is to remind them about potty but don't pressure them about it. just casually ask them if they need to potty or "remember where your potty is" or "grandma potties!", etc.
good luck! and as frustrated as it gets, they will regress, it is a work in progress for a long time but it WILL happen.

Delaney will be 3 on June 3rd and she has been fully potty trained since April 2009, she basically potty trained herself after her baby sister was born. She went backwards for about a month when her sister was born last January, but by mid February, she was back on track again. I still buy pull-ups because every once in awhile, she'll ask if she can wear one to bed, she never soils it. She mostly askes for one if she's sick or extremely tired.

i tried potty trainin at 18mths...and again 2 yrs.i think it wasn't working because i was using pullups..as soon as i just got rid of them and put him in undies he started to make an effort to go to the toilet when he needed...he has been toilet trained now for about 6-8 months during the day...and of a night for about 4 months...

My daughter was trained at 24 months--only to regress three months later when her sister was born. She's now dry day and night again. When training, my rule was that she had to sit on the potty for 2 minutes (I set a timer) every hour or so. She was allowed to get up when the timer went off or when she peed. And I always have her help clean up accidents--pee and poop. Not in a mean or angry way, but just showing her that actions always have consequences. Good luck to all--not as easy task!

My daughter 1st started on the potty at 20 months and by 25 months was going to the toilet, she also went thru a stage of going having dry nights at 30months but has gone backwards a wee bit so is back wearing pull ups and being dry about twice a week. but i am going to try a brolly sheet which goes over bottom sheet and holds up to two litres so u just have to wash it not the whole lot of the bedding and helps then recognise when they are wetting instead of soaking away like a nappy. will let u know how it works.

My little girl Sydney is seriously potty training right now...we tried potty training on and off for probably 6 mos with pullups, which everyone is right...it doesn't work. About 2 wks ago I just decided that there would be no more pullups and that was the end of it! She wears one to bed at night, and that is it, but she is still occasionally wet in the morning so when she has training down pat I will start her on overnight. I got her to potty train by telling her that if she wants a new baby brother or sister she has to start going in the potty so the new baby can use her diapers or else he/she wouldn't have any. We plan on trying to get preg. this fall. She is pretty excited about it and talks about it alot. We use candy and sticker rewards also. She is doing really well!!

My daughter will be 3 on June 19 and I am having a hard time with potty training. My doc said I need to not push it and let her do it at her own time. I tried... "I will give you candy if you go potty in your potty" And it worked 1 time. But my doc said that I should not do that. I tried putting her potty in my living room to see if she would go up to it. Because the problem I am having is she is taking off her dipper or pull up and throwing it away then she will pull up her jeans so that I dont know then when I go to change her she is wet. When she wakes up in the morning she doesnt have her dipper on and I have to clean all of her sheets because she pee the bed. I will tell her lets go potty and she will get on it and then jump up and say she is done. I try to keep her on it and she gets mad. Then she will come up to me and tell me I have to poo and I will check her and she already did. I just dont know what else to do. I have a potty book I read to her every night as well. My boy was soooo easy but not her!

SHe started at 14 months because she wanted to be like me:) Make it fun, make it a positive, read books while they go potty, stickers, a specail story or song:)

My daughter is day time potty trained. It was a struggle to get her to poop on the potty - she would even go put on a pull-up and come tell me she pooped in it. But then about 3 weeks ago, she pooped once on the potty and that was it, she goes all the time on it now. The incredible part is that she was sick and had diarrhea for 4 days and not once did she have a poopy diaper (I put diapers on her just in case!). Sometimes she would go 15 times in an hour, but she always went on the potty! (Thank heavens! LOL)

I'm in the same boat as Lindsey. My daughter will be 3 in June also, and will not sit on the potty. She just fights and fights. At what point do you just put your foot down and make them do it. I don't want it to be a negative experience for her. She knows she should go on the potty but is stubborn when I want her to. Suggestions please!!!
