Need help with rash!

My 18 month old is cutting more teeth and is having loose stools. (This is normal for her when she teeths.) However, the change is causing some pretty uncomfortable rashes on her bottom. I have tried Destin and now just plain vasoline. It doesn't seem to be getting better. Does anyone have a different over-the-counter way of helping?

I'm glad to hear she's getting better. I was going to tell you about nystatin.. That's the only cream that works while my junebug is teething. I don't know what it is about teething, but it always seems to come hand in hand with a yeast infection/nasty rash for her. Nystatin works miracles!

Hey Ladies! So here is the update. After trying the Boudreaux's butt paste, Aquaphor, Lotrimin AF & a prescription of Cholestyramine paste...it was still not getting any better. I called the doc and she called in a prescription of Nystatin. And, Thankfully!!!!! It is getting cleared up. Finally. Poor baby. She is still reluctant to let me change her diaper, but it is slowly getting easier. It is probably just scary cause it was pretty sore at one point. Anyhow, that's that. Thanks again for all the assistance and sugestions! You are the best, ladies! Hope you all had a great holidays!

I hope what the doctor gave you is working. It will make for a much happier little girl!

Hey ladies, I called the doctor yesterday because after all of our attempts...it's just not clearing up. They called in prescription for cream and also told me to try Lotrimin AF in addition to the prescription cream. Michelle & Joslynn, I think you were right. It looks like it may be a yeast infection rash. I hope this starts to help. I'll keep you updated. Thanks for all the advice. :)

Bag Balm is the best!! It's cream used for cow udders. I know that it sounds unconventional, but it really works, and you can get it at Wal-Mart in the baby section. It's in a square, green metal container. My little girl cries when I put desitin on her sore bottom, but the bag balm doesn't seem to bother her! Good Luck.

You ladies are so helpful! Thank you. I have tried all suggestions so far. I think if she wakes up this morning and the rash is still not getting better, I will take her to the doctor. Michelle, you may be right. I didn't even consider that. We need to get this fixed once and for all! Poor baby!

Thanks again ladies! You're Awesome!

If it doesn't clear up you might want to take her to the doctor in case it's a yeast infection. Sometimes it is hard to determine with the rash and all the creams. It just seems like that's what happened to my girls when the rash wouldn't clear up, but did once we had the right cream for the yeast infection. Just something to keep in mind.

Oh, and my 18 month old son has been using Pampers cruisers as well and hasn't barely ever had a diaper rash still. I really like them.

That would probably feel better. Warm rag instead of the cold wipes with possible perfumes and other things to make the soreness worse. I'll give that a try too. Thanks, La Ronda!

i was told to use destin when my daughter had a rash down there but i was also told to only wipe down there with a warm rag until the area healed .. no soap, baby wipes or powder and it worked..

Thanks ladies for the tips! Joslynn, you're right about the generic diapers. We always had problems with that too. But, we are using the Pampers cruisers and they have been okay for her. And these stools are hard to smell. The next thing I know, she had dirty pants again!! Oh the joys of teething! Thanks Gemma. I will also try the thrush cream. Good ideas ladies! Thanks!!!!!

I have to ask what kind of diapers are you using? Some generic diapers are horrible on my baby's bum. Try a different brand. My fave is pampers cruisers. All 3 of my children had diarrhea when they were teething but i piled on the desitin at night and all day until it cleared up also frequent dipie changes. I know its hard to smell but i would check them all the time until the rash cleared up an then once its cleared pile on vaseline an not scented. keep up the diapie changes.

Boudreaux's Butt Paste is AMAZING, and the only thing that works for my son's horrible rashes. You can get it at Target, Babies R Us and I believe Wal-Mart. Good luck!
