Hello June of 2007 Moms,

What are you June babies sleeping habbits. Is it normal that my 3 yr old still doesn't sleep through the entire night. He has his own room and nice full size bed that he falls asleep in. But, almost every night he'll wake up and wants to go to Mommy & Daddy's bed. I can put him back to sleep in his room again, but he'll wake up within the next two hours, even if I fall asleep with him too. The only time he sleeps ALL night is when he sleeps with us in our bed. But it sucks because he alone sleeps crazy and ends up sticking his knees or feet in my back. What should i do? He's my only child and want more in the near future but i don't want 2 or 3 (including my husband) in bed with me everynight...

My son hasn't wanted to 1go to bed at all at a decent hour or 2 sleep in his own bed since he turned 2. We have gone a whole year with him staying up crazy hours and then only wanting to sleep on the floor downstairs. We put down pillows and blankets for him to sleep on but I still hate him being there. We've tried letting him fall asleep and then relocating him but he always wakes up and wants to go back downstairs. It's very frustrating. I don't want him downstairs alone so my hubby and I have been sleeping on the couch. I don't know what happened to make him not like sleeping or sleeping in his bed but I wish I could fix it.

I have the same issue with my daughter.... She won't even fall asleep in her own bed she falls asleep out on the couch with her daddy and then we put her in her bed and every night / early morning she has tossed her blankets, stuffed animal, and pillow from her bed and is heading to mommy and daddies bed.... She tosses all the stuff so we can not take her back to her bed because we were trying that at first and she caught on to it...... So now my oldest (5) is in school and I'm still having this issue with my little one..... I want her sleeping in her own bed I just don't know how to make it happen

Mine is the same way. Every night about 2 to 3 am he wakes up and comes to mine and my husband’s room. I have asked allot of friends and family about this and read up on it. This is what I get out of it all. If you let your baby (infant) sleep with you, or when they cried you picked them up until they went to sleep, they didn’t learn how to sooth themselves back to sleep. So now instead of being able to wake up and realize they are in there bed and safe they run to you b/c as an infant that is what we taught them they were safe in mommy and daddy’s bed or arms. I see where that could come into play but I also dislike it b/c I didn’t like it when as a baby my son would wake up and cry. So I had to pick him up. And then it was just easier for me to put him in bed with me so I could get sleep also. I guess I am paying for it now. Even a King size bed gets small with 2 grown adults a 3 year old and a dog. LOL

My son doesnt even like to fall asleep in his bed. We have to get him to sleep in our recliner. He fights us really bad too. He always uses the excuse that he has to go potty, but when he gets down all he does is run to his toys to play. Then in the middle of the night he wakes up and comes to our bed. It is not fun because I also have a 4 month old that sleeps in her bassinet beside the bed. Not sure what to do with my son.

My son usually never wants to sleep in his bed so what i do is let him fall asleep in mommy and daddys bed then when i goto bed and hes way passed out in our bed, i transfer him into his room and he sleeps all night. He then usually gets up between 5 and 6am then goes to the bathroom and sneaks in our room.

my son dosent even go to sleep in his bed! if he does it is a big deal! he usualy goes to sleep on the couch then we relocate him when hes out to it!
but he still wakes early hours and moves in to get mummy cuddles from about 4-6am till wake up time! the morning bit is getting less and less, but still no major progress on going to sleep in his bed!

We have the same problem with our eldest. He wakes up 2-3 times a night and always wants to sleep with me and my husband! He will go to sleep in his own bed but wakes up early hours of the morning to jump in bed with us. He shares his room with his 2 yr old brother who we don't have a problem with. I have just recently had another baby who I am up to all hours of the night so you can imagine that between the baby and fighting for room in the bed with my son that I am very tired! I'm just glad that there is some one out there with the same problem as me!

I thought I was the only one!!! I had my son sleep with me since he was little and it was only about 9 months ago that he got his own big boy bed. He does fine at bed time and goes to sleep by himself no problem, with the occasional, "I want something to drink" or "I have to go potty", but most mornings I wake up and he is in bed with me. If he is very tired, he will sleep all night by himself, but I sleep so deep that most of the time I don't even register that he is crawling in bed with me. I have a 10 month old daughter that I hope I am heading off the problem from the beginning with because she has always slept in her own crib and not with me. I think it will get better, but I too am getting tired of getting kicked in the back and sleeping at the corner edge of the bed!!

I have that same problem. I have a set of twins and they will sleep in their own beds up until 2 or 3 in the morning and they get up and get int he bed with me and my husband. My husband usually ends up sleeping on the floor. We try to put them back in their beds once they go to sleep but they get right back up and into our beds they go... I am hoping that they get out of this really fast..

I feel your pain. My son is the exact same way. Every night he ends up in my room and he loves to sleep across my husband and myself so between the 3 of us we look like and "H". Even during his naps he wakes up about and hour to an hour and a half into it and wants me to come lay down with him. Though most of the time I don't mind the 3 hour naps with him especially because I am currently pregnant so it is nice. I am hoping that he will soon get out of this phase before I have 2 rug rats taking up my king size bed :)

At some point they will outgrow this sleeping with mommy. Mine can't go to sleep without me there. He's fine all night. He wakes up to go potty at least once and he still wants some juice a once or twice. Don't worry. He or she willl grow out of it. Keep putting them back to there bed.

Did he sleep with you as a baby? I don't really know much about it, since my daughter has slept in her own room since she was born.. But it's obviously very important that you and your husband have your own time together. The only things that I can think of are that maybe his bed is too large, it might feel big and empty, making him feel lonely. Maybe the dark makes him nervous, or maybe he just misses you guys. I would try maybe spending some time focused around just him right before he goes to bed. To reassure him. Maybe leave his door open when he sleeps so that he knows he's not stuck in there. Or takinghim to get himself new sheets or a blanket with something on it that he really likes. When I redid my daughter's room in purple (her absolute favorite thing ever) she started spending alot more time in there. Especially right before she goes to bed. I also got her a princess touch light and hung it next to her on the wall so if she wakes up in the night she can turn it on and it makes stars around the room so she doesn't get scared. Just ideas. Good luck!
