What are the signs of the 2 year old molars coming in? Is anyone else experiencing changes in their June 2008 babies?? My 19 month old has suddenly stopped sleeping through the night and seems irritable most of the day (when she is usually quite pleasant). She also has some nasal discharge but she had a cold just over a week ago....I want to believe it's her 2 year old molars coming in, but I am not sure what to make of it. I don't see any swelling in her mouth...but I wasn't sure how long it would take them to surface if they were starting to move. I remember that the incisors caused sleep disruption and a runny nose for about a week and a half before I even saw any swelling or redness there. If your baby has gotten or is getting their 2 year old molars, can you shed some light on what to look for and how long the process takes/took?? Thanks!

Staci,

My daughter has been experiencing many of the same symptoms as your little one. It started about 2 months ago with really bad ear pulling. She was tugging her ears so bad that she was making them red. I took her to the pediatrician thinking that she might have an ear infection, but they said it was her 2 year old molars. Since then, she has had some sleep disruption at night and also naps (not every day and night). She also had a runny nose for a week or so. She is putting everything in her mouth, especially her fingers, and she is not a finger or thumb sucker. She has also been a little irritable. One of her bottom molars is pushing on her gums really hard. I think that it will break through within the next week or two. The other 3 aren't even close. I hate when she is teething, especially the molars. I feel so bad that I can't do more to help her. We rely on baby oragel, tylenol, and during the day she eats frozen grapes. I think they really make her gums feel better. Good luck to you! Sorry that I wasn't able to help more. I just wanted to let you know that we are going through it too!

my girl (same age) got all four molars about 6 weeks ago... she has never had any trouble with teething but they gave her a bit of pain.. u could see the gums were swollen for a good 2 weeks before they started coming through, but her symptoms were rosy red cheeks, watery eyes and runny nose. from the time the symptoms started to them fully descending was about 4 weeks... but because it was in summer i just kept giving her ice pops and ice cream, that kept the swelling down.. but try some teething gel right up in her gums just before bed time, it should keep the pain away most of the night... good luck with it!
