My son is 13 months old, and will not walk! He stands on his own, walks around furniture, and crawls like a bandit...but no walking. In fact, when we try to help him walk, he won't even put his feet down...he crosses them in the air! I've been chalking this up as honest to goodnesss stubborn behavior...but I go back to work in 3 weeks, and I'm afraid I'm going to miss this great milestone that I was once positive I would be able to witness.

So, anyone else in my shoes (no pun intended) :)

Anyone else have little ones who just can't seem to place one foot in front of the other?!? Any suggestions on what we can do?!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter was like your son, not interested in walking. She could pull herself up and stand up by herself but to take those steps she just wouldn't. She would rather crawl all over the place. Then it seemed like the day after her 1st birthday she woke up and decided "I'm going to walk today" and off she went. My hubby and I are still amazed at how one day she could only stand holding onto the furniture and the next she was taking steps and falling over and over all by herself. I know you hate to hear this as an anxious parent, but he'll do it when he's ready! My hubby's grandma told me it has something to do with their equilibrium and their ears...

Not to worry, when he feels strong enough he will do it. My friends son did not start walking until he was about 14 or 15 months. They know when they are ready!!! Cheer him on and encourage him. I hope that you don't miss it

My dr says that babies learn to walk better when they are bare foot b/c they have more grip. Just a side note.

My Kaya is doing the exact same thing. She didn't even stand up on her own until 2 days before her birthday, June 11. She seems to be at a point now where she could do it if she wanted to, but she crosses her legs, just as you say!! She is def stubborn and has a strong will, so I suppose when her will decides it's time to walk, it'll be time to walk! Lol. Her father and I have a bet about it. He thought she'd be walking at 13 months. Nope. I say 15, so I guess it'll happen right in the middle. I can pretty much guarantee he'll take a step in the next 3 weeks. He must! Good luck! I hope you get to see it!

that's so funny that he walks on his toes because joey does the exact same thing! i try to keep shoes on him so that he stays flat-footed, but.....i guess i should invest in some baby knee pads! :D

Hi Sarah my lil boy is nearly 14 months old and he has only just over the last 2 days pulled himself up 2 a standin position using the chair and i go bak 2 work in 2 weks time.I really wanted 2 b able 2 see him take his very 1st steps but it looks like hes just not ready 2 walk yet.He stands on his tip toes still so i dont think he's gonna try and walk 4 a few months yet.
