I have this issue with my daughter and the following things have helped:
Water
Barley cereal
Pears
Pear juice
Prunes
Plums
Lentils

According to her doctor, avoid:
Rice cereal
Apples
Bananas

Hope this helps =)

Quoting Eva: I will disagree. I have given my daughter yo-baby yogurt and she usually gives my a bow movement in several hours.

Whatever you do, do not give him yogurt - yogurt will make him even worse. Yougurt is given when there is a diarrhea. Prunes, pears, mango, oatmeal worked for my son...any fiber will do...

Try Yogurt and Baby food prunes in his milk if he will drink it. Also give him plenty of water and some apple juice. If he likes oatmeal try to include that in his daily diet.

My son is the same way...we cut out bananas and cheese all together and we are trying tp give him more yogurt to help with digestion. We give him a 1/2 prune juice 1/2 water combo everyday but he still has trouble going!!!!

My oldest boy was like that and still is, we found that making fruit smoothies the best option as he thinks its a drink and doesn't realize it has fruit in it. I was also suggested to give a drink of water every couple of hours for a few minutes. What is that saying you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink

I have the same problem - the pediatrian suggested prunes - my son seems to love them and I have added a probiotic to his milk - mine seems also to be lactose intollerant so I give him lactose free milk and lactose reduced yogurt. It seems to be improving. I think the transition to food etc is hard on their systems.

pears or pear juice is a great laxitive however if it is a reoccuring problem coloxal drops from the chemist (over the counter) is a good option specially designed for children from about 6 weeks on

Have you tried Miralax? It is pure fiber and non habit forming. It was recommended by our pediatrician and works wonders. The ped. said not to use karo syrup or juice due to their suger content even though a lot of friends have used them and said they work great. Another idea is a probiotic. We used it with both of our children and the stomach issues disappeared.

from what i have heard, changing formula will not always help with constipation. does your son drink water?? I know from the times my son has been constipated that if I get him to drink more water it usually helps. I have also been told that diluted prune juice will help but I couldn't get my son to drink it. Someone else suggested to me that I should have tried giving it in an oral syringe (like the ones you give medicine in), but I haven't had the need to try it again.

Good luck!
