With Christmas looming, I wonder what other parents are telling their children about the easter bunny, tooth fairy, and santa claus? My husband and I are on opposite sides of the discussion. He belives we tell them that they do no exist, that way they are not dissapointed when someone else tells them. I believe that we tell them they do exist as it fires their imagination and gives them something good to believe in. I like to go all out and pretend that they have visited, my husband does not. My daughter now 2 years and 4 months old will be old enough to start understanding these things with her younger brother right behind her. Would be interested to hear what other parents are saying to their 2 year olds?

I personally tell my sons about the Easter Bunny, Tooth fairy and Santa. I also gave them both Elves. It's really good for them to believe in them it helps them to behave not wanting Santa or the easter bunny to pass by the house. I also tell them the true meaning of these holidays. I have my friends call and pretend to be Mrs.Claus or Mrs.Easter Bunny and ask my sons how they have been behaving and what they want and they love it. They will know in time that the easter bunny and santa and the tooth fairy are not real in time but I wouldn't take them away from your children just because they are not real, they would miss out on a lot of fun things I still remember how much fun I had writing to santa and putting out cookies for him. and decorating eggs for the easter bunny. Plus it helps us to believe in things we can't see like GOD. If i were you I'd ask your husband about his memories about christmas and easter when he was little and ask him what he would have been missing out on if his parents didn't tell him about santa and the easter bunny.

Both my husband I agree to not teach our children that there is a Santa, Easter bunny, tooth fairy, and all of that other made up stuff. Not only would we be lying to our children if we did tell them that these fantasy-creatures existed but we would also be taking away what these celebrations are really about: Jesus Christ. Trust me, children do not need any help in the imagination world. My 2 year old has a blooming imagination without me making up things for her. There's simply NO reason to teach her about these made up things only to let her down later. It's cofusing and uncesseary.
