My daughter is 13 months and is very fussy when it comes to food. She has always been like this towards food. The only things she wil eat is Kraft Dinner, mainly anything pasta. Hot Dogs, Bologna, Peas, Toast, Bread, Pita Bread, Eggo's and Pancakes. I keep offering her other foods but still a no go. I have been giving her some Pedisure just to make sure she gets some nutrients of what she needs. I hope she will get better in the eating department. She is growing up healthy and strong with no problems. Does anyone else having the same issues with their little on eating?

My daughter used to be awesome and eat pretty much anything, and has recently hit this phase of eating pretty much exactly the same things as Monica's (the original poster). It's frustrating, but I know it is just a phase and I just have to take a deep breath and remember that. A lot of food is being wasted right now though. One thing I have found works quite a bit is if I feed her some of "my" food.. she then seems to take it no problem. But certain foods she used to gobble down (ie cheese) she all of a sudden wants nothing to do with.

Good luck to all of you - take a deep breath and remember that this too shall pass ;)

I am fortunate that my son is still a good eater, but his pediatrician told me not to expect that to continue and to think of his nutrition over the course of time, not one day at a time. He said to try to get in something from all of the food groups over the course of 2-3 days and to know that any picky eating will pass as long as I keep re-introducing the foods he rejects.

Hi, we are having eating issues as well and my son was dx with an aversion to solids. He is also underweight. Have you talked to her pediatrician? We are seeing a in home speech pathologist for him.

where are you children on the weight height charts for their age, my ds has always been around the 99.6 percentile so when it came to giving him new foods he didnt like then we just offered it and when he didnt eat it then so long as he had eaten properly the rest of the day and was having enough milk then we were fine to get him go a bit hungry , he normally would come back looking for food or if we tried it again later he would eat more of it then ,
thankfully hes always been a good eater, if there is a food they like like cheese then you can mix it with most dishes to encourage them to eat it , also DS now sits at the table and eats the same meals as us most of the time, like last night we were out and both he and i had the spag-bol and he gobbled it up happily as mummy was eating it too and he had the crusts off my husbands calzone as well, hes 14 months now and i think not allowing his fussyness and keeping trying things with him day after day till he ate it did him a favour caus now i can give him most anything which is handy as im no longer carting around babyfood when we go out

My mom & I were just talking about this the other day...my brother was the pickiest eater known to man...he now comes back with Sushi leftovers from going out with his friends. Don't make a big deal out of what she eats or doesn't eat to her or it will just become more of an issue. Jerry Seinfelds wife, Jessica I think, wrote a great cookbook that uses veggie purees in all the recipies so that you are sneeking in the veggies etc, like some of the other ladies here sugested...the one thing she said when she was on Oprah was to still offer them veggies they can see so they get used to eating them. I think if most of us asked our parents, they would say that we all went through phases like this and we turned out just fine, so try not to worry to much - kids will not starve themselves:)

Horizon Organic makes a yogurt that is fruit and Veggie. The one we tried was banana and sweet potato. I am really lucky, my little one is a great eater. We Experiment with different things every day. Maybe even things I would not eat on a regular basis. (babies learn to eat from watching their parents.) If your eating lentil soup and it looks good they are more likely to try it. Experiment with different textures too. I can give a few of my daughters favorites. Take firm tofu and slice it,. brush it with a little bit of teriyaki glaze (thicker) and cook until warm, add some frozen stir fry veggies and before you serve it make sure its bite size. She also loves greek plain yogurt with Earth's best fruit on top. or make a smoothie with yogurt and frozen fruit. the Vegetarian veggie bites in the frozen section, they look like chicken nuggets and are soo good. I noticed (for us anyways) if we are all eating together and she notices that her plate is similar to ours the dogs get less of her food.

My daughter is so bad with eatting, I hate meal time. Morning 1/2 her breakfast she feeds to the dog. Luch she will only eat ygort and apple sauce, dinner we r still giving her baby food cause when we try new stuff or reall food- she cries and makes herself vomit. I get so upset and the doctor said he is gonna send us to a specialist.

Hi there, thank you so much for all your info! I get so worried about her eating so much Bologna and Hot Dogs but I think at least she is eating. I know what your saying about some things they will eat for a couple of days and then they don't want nothing to do with it. She still wont touch potatoes no matter what I do with them and she use to love them. She loves her Kraft Dinner and Cheese Whiz Sandwiches! ....always a challenge and I dont look forward to meal times either :( Hope it gets better as she gets older :)

My daughter will eat chicken, whole wheat macaroni and cheese, and mozzarella cheese. Besides that, I can only to get her to take a few bites of anything else?

the only thing you can do is what you have been doing...keep introducing foods over and over again and maybe she will start to like them. it sounds like youre doing the right thing. my son eats tons of bread and pasta too. at first i was worried about all the carbs but if your daughter is anything like my son he runs around so much i dont think the carbs matter. one thing i like to make i call "rainbow pasta" i make a pasta salad w/a veggie for every color of the rainbow in it, tomatoes, peas, yellow and orange bell pepper just to name a few (blue is tough so i usually add a few blueberries). not only is it colorful its nutritious too. good luck.

Oh, and I forgot...a friend with an 11 month old told me she just found some yogurt that is mixed with veggies and still has the fruity taste to it... I think she said Sunnybrook Farms, maybe? Might be worth a shot.

we just started eating therapy with our daughter who will eat precious little other than dry foods like cereal and Gerber puffs and their other dry stuff. The therapy has already helped a lot and she is now trying more things, though most meals she only eats a few tiny bites of anything. I need help figuring out how to get her to eat more...we can't let the formula go until she does...and I am ready to let that cost go for sure!

At least yours will eat pasta- mine eats hot dogs, eggos, yogurt, avacado, toast with peanut butter, toast with cream cheese, pizza, and fruit. That's it. No pasta, lunch meat, chicken, cheese (other than cream cheese), or vegetables (other than avacado). I hate every meal time. I never know what to feed him, and it seems as if every week he has crossed a new food off his list. So I feel your pain!

my daughter is a somewhat picky eater, but since she's still breastfed, i'm not too worried.

I definately have the same issues.... Since she likes Pasta so much (as mine) I've been making pasta salads... I put anywhere from Cheese / Soy Beans / broccoli / Ham / and rather than mayo in the salad, I use italian dressing (creamy and reg)

She LOVES it- gobbles it right down... and this way she's getting meat, protein (from the beans) and veggies, but it all has the same flavor, cuz it's mixed together.

But other than that, I'm still looking for Ideas as well... I have a previous post. ;)
