How many words is your baby saying?

my 18 month old daughter talks in 3-4 word sentances--each child grows and developes at different ages and stages so its normal and not that unusaual

My son may not being saying 50 words but he is definitely trying to talk. More and more every day he is repeating or trying to repeat what we say. the only thing he puts together is high five! as he slaps our hand. I just think each child is different. I have also heard that boys seem to talk later than girls.

my lil Journey speaks many words 50+ she also speaks two word sentences.. she is so funny with all her words and sentences.. This is my favorite stage.. She knows what she is saying and its clear to others as well. Words she dont know she will repeat from others like colors and shapes..

I have an 18month girl. she can say about 15-20 words. She says other words and mini sentances, that just sound a little like babble to anyone else, but i can understand what she is saying, lol. Must be a mum thing. lol

My little one is quite the chatterbox! She was saying over 20 words clearly at 15 months and doing some baby signs, too. At 18 months I am sure she is saying 30-40 probably (I have not been writing them down).

My son is 18 1/2 months and can say 15-20 words, clearly, 10 animal sounds and a few two word phrases. He talks and asks me questions a lot in his baby jibberish and I can usually pick out one word that's clear. :)

Mine says a few words, can put a couple together.... but other than that.... well thats it. He is perfectly normal bc i freaked out and took him to the speech therapist =) Im OCD! So really, dont worry about what other people kids can or cannot do. Your child communicates to you in its own way.

Lillian can say; mommy, daddy, mammam(which is what she calls my mom), puppy, cup, bite, please, move, shut up(which she has finally stopped saying), baby, and maybe a few others but they aren't as coherent as these. It took us forever to get to this point but it seemed like once she started talking she didn't want to stop.

Yes my son is 18 months and defnintely amazing in speech for his age he uses sentences and has a huge vocabulary. My two older ones just taught him knock knock jokes and he is using the turn taking in speech which is great. They are usually nonsense he uses things like Apple after who's there then Applesauce after Apple who, but I think it is pretty good! My oldest son was really late on his speech and got therapy for it but didn't use sentences until he was about 3 1/2. My daughter was really quiet and didn't really start talking until she was 2 but has a great vocabulary and understanding now. Every child is different. It definitely sounds like your little one is ahead of himself and expect it to go quick because once they start putting the words together it is amazing what they start saying.

My son hit the 50 mark 2 weeks ago and now I can't even keep track of how many there are now but close to 80+. He can only do 2 or 3 word sentences right now. Not full on conversations with him.

My son is the same way...he can say anything you or i can say, he can tell me what he wants and he has even made a few sentences

I have twins and at our 18 month check-up, their doctor said it is normal for them to say 7-10 words. He also said that if they say "ga" and mean cat, it's ok as long as they have a specific word/sound for the object.

I think every child is very individual on this....my daughter (now 3) was saying maybe a handful of words, like my 18 month old is now. It was a red flag for the public health nurse, who then sent a referral for speech therapy. Well, within 6 months she was talking nonstop and now her speech and conversational abilities far exceed that of other three year olds I know! My son may only have a handful (Mama, Dada, no, bum, cup, more and up) of clear words, he certainly makes a whole range of sounds and will likely be talking by the summer.

Don't worry, sounds like your little one is ahead of the game so far!
