My daughter, Kara is very petite. She only weighed 12.5 at 7 months old. We started solids around 6.5 months old and I just recently started to wean her from breastfeeding exclusively. She now (finally will take a bottle!!) gets 2 bottles of formula during the day. She has her 9 month wellness visit in a few weeks. We can't wait to see how much she gained. Still looks little to me!

Do you have a petite June '08 baby too?

my son is 9 months old also.. he came 3 weeks early due to my toximia and was born at 5lbs 2oz.. due to the c section the next day he shrunk to 4lbs 2oz.. now at his 9month check up he is 20.4lbs and 30" long.. he is not chubby at all.. he is in the 75th percentile for height and weight and the doctor says he is growing perfectly

[deleted account]

Brenna had her 9 month wellness visit today. She weighed 16lbs 15oz and is 27 1/2 inches long. Her pediatrician said she looked good and was just where she needs to be. She was just above 50 percentile for height and between 25 and 50 percentile in wieght.

My little man was born June 19th and weighed 6lbs 6oz and was 19in long. At his 9 month apt last week he was 20lbs (70%) and 30 in (90%) He is definately on the move! Hopefully will be walking in the next few weeks! He could care less about a bottle any more. He only will take 2  7oz bottles a day! If we are lucky! He has been on solids since 4 months and has 2 meals a day plus snack.  He is as happy as can be though which makes me happy :)

My son is 9 months and weighed at his check up 16 lbs 13 oz. Being a big newborn 8.8 lbs, I was very concerned about his weight gain. He is super active and happy and eats well. His pediatrician told me that he is fine, and that he is probably settling into his genetic weight. He is below the 5th percentile on weight and height. He is also a quarter fillipino (Asian babies tend to be smaller). My husband and I are both on the smaller side. So if any of these things apply to your daughter then she should be fine. I definitely know how it feels to walk around and see babies twice your kid's size. People always think he's 6 or 7 months. Also solids have WAY less calories and fat than formula and BM so it is not uncommon for there to be slowed weight gain after starting solids. I cut back on solids a little just so he wasn't too full to eat his bottle.

When i last had joshua weighed, he had just turned 8 1/2 months and he already weighed in at 20lbs 5ozs, i am due to have him weighed again on the 7th april, when he was born he came in at 8lbs 15ozs so he was not really a small baby when he was born, because of how big he is when he was 6months old he was in 9-12months clothes, and is now struggling to fit them, think when i next go shopping for clothes for him he is easily gonna be in 12-18months clothing

We just had our son's 9 month check up and he's 23.8 lbs and 30 1/2 " tall! He was born at 9.9 lbs so now wprries about him weighing that much for us, he's following his growth curve perfectly. On appereance you would even guess that much because he's so tall and lean but with chubby cheeks. He's actually been walking by himself now for a little over a week!!!!!

My son was 17lb,11oz & 28.5in at his 9mo. visit. 10th percentile for weight, and just off the 75th percentile line for his length. He's increasing in the length from visit to visit, but still holding steady on the weight line; I'm figuring he's just going to have Daddy's height, and Mommy's build, and not likely to be a linebacker on the HS football team! As long as the kidlets are healthy, active, eating well, and developing normally, I think most docs are ok with babies being on the small side - after all, some baby has to be the smallest one! They mostly get concerned if they see a drop off in a lower weight baby...like moving from 10th to 5th percentile, KWIM?

My daughter just had her wellness check yesturday and she's 18.2 lbs and 28 inches long. She just doubled her birth weight. She went through a growth spurt since her 6 month visit. I wouldn't worry about it every child is different. But good luck!

My oldest daughter on the other hand was only 15 lbs at 9 months and skinny as a rail.

[deleted account]

my son was 10lb born and now at 9 and a half months weighs just over 25 pounds. hes very healthy and has 3-4 solid meals a day. he is also over 30 inches long so hes just a big kid

[deleted account]

Well as you can see mine is 10 months old now, lol, but my son is not yet doubled his birthweight. He gets 6 - seven bottles a day and they are 8-9 oz bottles. No solids.

Similar with the other kids I have and they have all remained small. We just metabolize really fast and are on the go alot. :)

My daughter has always been very small. I started her on solids around 4 months, by doctor's request to beef her up, and I stopped breastfeeding at 7 1/2 months. She is now starting to chunk up. She is around 16 lbs now, but still in 3-6 mo clothes!

My 9 month old is on the smaller size. She was 16lbs 12oz (25%) and 26in. (10%) at her 9mo appointment. I breastfeed exclusively (with a very rare formula when I am gone for a period of time) and she doesn't like baby food. She prefers table food which I am trying to be creative and find table food soft enough for her to chew.

My daughter just went to her 9 month well visit and she was 22 pounds 4 ounces.  She's been eating baby food since six months plus the bottle so that could've packed on the pounds.  We are feeding her 3rd foods and and around 24 ounces a day for the bottle.

My little boy was born on the 2nd June and  weighs just 15.2 :( the same he was when he was 32 weeks old, he hasn't put any weight on in 9 weeks!!, He is breastfeed and I started weaning at 5 months he seemed to like it at first but after a month or so he would hardly eat at all, He still isn't interested he clamps his mouth shut when I try to feed him, He will eat the odd banana and a bit of bread and cheese. The health vistor suggested I give him vitamin drops so I have started him on those.  The doctor has referd him to the hospital for further test but the apointment is not until 7th May!!. He also gets constipated which is unusual for a breastfed baby. I have tried him with bottle but he is just not interested. I am at the end of my tether!

My daughter was born 2nd of June and was 9lb 9 oz she isnow only just reached 12lb this week. She doesn't grow either and is still the size of a 3 month old, which is strange for me as her sisters were really big. For months they told me that she was fine untill eventually she ended up in hospital and has been diagnosed with failure to thrive and we are still trying to find out what is causing the problem as she eats for wales. If you are worried at all then i would just speak to your health visitors and ask them to refere you to a pediatrician. Trust me you know your child best.

My son is big for our family (but average by the posts on this conversation) - 9 months old and about 23 pounds. For my babies - that's huge. His 2 older sisters are still the smallest little things - 5 yr old is 37 lbs & my 3.5 yr old is 27 lbs!! - Yes, that does mean he's less than 5 lbs away from his "big" sister! No worries - they're all individuals. =)

My son was 9lb 6oz at birth (nearly 3lbs heavier than my 1st baby 8 years ago) & was a hungary newborn! I had an allergic reaction to the Cerferoxime (antibiotic) jab given in theatres when I had the emergency C-section & because of this my body was too busy fighting the reaction to make enough breast milk, so he would be breast fed 1st then have a bottle top up & he now weighs 20lbs 14oz & still wants to eat everything!!
