Olivia is 9 months tomorrow and at the dr's 2 weeks ago she weighed 23 lbs and was 30 inches long! The dr said she was super healthy and not too big but that all babies balance themselves out by the time they reach the age of 2.

Lily was born june 6 and weighs 17 pounds. my first daughter weighed 17 pounds at 1 year, so she was tinier. as for the doubling weight thing i think that applies to what dr's quote "a normal size 6.5 to7.5 lb" baby. lily was 8 pounds at birth but 8 days over her estimated due date.

My son will be 9 months is a few days and weighed in at barely 16 lbs fully clothed this morning. I am not sure how tall he is at this point. I am guessing 28"? He has been exclusively breastfed and eats 3+ jars of baby food a day plus little snacks. He is very healthy and active. I have spent 9 months being concerned about his weight but I really think finally that the breastfeeding and genetics play a big roll. We finally found my husbands baby book and he weighed the same at 9 months.

My daughter weighed only 13.3 at her 6 month checkup. She just had her 9 month check up a few days ago and she weighed 15.4. She is only in the 4 percentile for her weight. She is very slim! But hey, the country is overweight so as long as she's eating good and all that I would not worry about it!

my daughter is almost 9 months and shes 19 1/2 lbs but she is tall too.. she is in 18 month clothes but im 5'10 and my hub is 6'2. while my bro and sis in law are both under 5'6 and my nephew who is 2 weeks older than my lil one is only 16 lbs. he is in the 1 percentile for height and weight.... so each baby is different.  being small isnt bad if the doc says there healthy! :)

My boy is 23.5 lbs and 30.5 inches long. His rate of weight gain has thankfully slowed down and allowed my body to catch up to toting around the lug nut. He grew so fast that it really makes me miss the newborn days a lot.

My little man will be 9 months at the end of the month and he is 19 lbs.  My DD who is three is only 33 Lbs.  I'm only 5'1 and my husband is 6'4  so I guess I'm going to be the snall one of the group.  Both my children are taller and skinner then most, but of course my son seems to be smaller then my daughter was at this age.

As long as your baby is healthy don't worry about weight.

I was very worried about weight after my daughter was born at 8 lbs 14 oz. She was the biggest baby ever born on either side of our family. A lot of comments were made like "she’s going to be a very big girl", "hopefully she' not overweight as an adult". I started to look into birth weight and studies have shown that regardless of what a baby weights in the first couple years of life as long as they eat healthy they will mostly be similar weight to the parent(s).

My daughter weighed 16 lbs 5 oz on her 9 month birthday and she is completely healthy.

I also have a friend that has a very small 9 month old daughter but her doctor has no concerns about her weight because she is eating well and she is healthy.

Oh you guys made me feel so much better!!!! Ora is much bigger than her brother was at this age.. She was 29 inches and 19 pounds at 8 months. We have her 9 month check next week so I will be curious to see what she is at.

My daughter was born June 5th, 2008. So she's 9 months and 1 week old. At her 9 month check-up she weighed 18.5 lbs. and was 27.5 Inches long. She was strickly formula fed.



I have a friend that has a "5 MONTH" old boy that weighs 18 lbs, and is 25 Inches long who was strickly breast fed. So the theory of breast fed babies being smaller doesn't always apply.

Mine wasn't that petite, but compared to some, she seemed little. She's really long. At her 7 month visit, she was 16lbs 12oz and 28 inches. She'll be 9 months in 2 weeks, but took her to Dr today for sick visit and she was 18lbs 8oz. I have to buy 12 month clothes so they are long enough for her, but they hang on her cause she's not wide enough.

my 9 month old had his check up this week and weighed 20 lbs 4 oz and is 27 in. He is in the 15% for height and 58% for weight. and his head is in the 91%  so he has a big head takes after his dad. HEE HEE

yes I do! When my little girl was born she only weighed 5lbs 8oz. I dont think she is quite as small as your little Kara but at her 9mo well baby checkup (on Monday) she weighed 16lbs.

My daughter is 8 months and she is 19.5 lbs., but she seems small to me still. My son was already 23 lbs at this age...girls are just smaller. =) Sounds like your little one is just perfect and healthy!

Hey my 9 month old daughter is very small herself ,she only weighs 16 lbs 8 oz and she is very long.And the doctors say that babies should have already doubled their weight by the time they are 6 months old and my daughter had just finally doubled her weight.I had also had problems with my breastmilk and that could posably the be the reason why.I had just started weining my baby to formula aswel so i can be sure she is getting what she needs,the nurse tells me that the baby is low in her weight but it could also be in her nature to be small aswel and girls tend to be very small in most cases.

I dont think you have anything to worry about.

My daughter (who will be 9 months next  week) weighs 20 pounds...but she doesn't look like it!  She is very long, and only has rolls in her inner thighs! She will also be going for her 9 month wellness check and I'm sure she'll be bigger as she now wants to 'eat everythng all the time'.  She drinks AT LEAST 5 bottles of 8oz daily (and that is when she is not hungry)

My daughter is also pretty thin.Although she weighs 16 1/2 lb, you can't tell looking at her. She's very long with chubby cheeks. I breastfed for 6 months and I swear it makes a leaner child. They say formula babies are more likely to be overweight later, so maybe that has something to do with it. As long as she's healthy and your doctor isn't concerned I wouldn't worry.

My daughter just turned eight months a week ago and she weighs 17 pounds but she is also very petite looking. The chubbiest part of her are her legs the rest of her is fairly skinny. Dont worry about her. My older daughter who is now 4 was the same way and she even now only weighs 35 pounds and she is right on for her height.
