Hope you ladies and your little ones are doing well.

I am finding that my 8 month old is eating more solids ( loves any form of cereal and fruit..but not veggies) but has reduced her consumption of milk. I BF and give her 1 bottle of formula a day. Is this natural esp since I heard that milk is their main source of nutrition for the first year??

Thanks ladies!!

My daughter eats fruit in the morning, fruit & veg at lunch & veg, meat & rice cereal at night. She drinks a 6 oz bottle before each meal & a 6 oz bottle between lunch & nightime meal. I do think all kids are different. I would say as long as she is growing & is healthy then it is fine. My pediatrician told me they will eat if they are hungry. If you would be more comfortable if she drank more, try giving th mlk befoe the solids.

My son was doing the same thing. His Dr. told me to feed him solids first at every meal and then give him his formula. I found that he was getting too full of the solids and did not want any formula. I started giving his 6 oz. of formula before feeding him his solids and it has been working out good. He eats 4 times a day with a bottle at 3 of the feedings. In the end you just have to do what works for you and your baby. If it makes you feel any better I talked to his Dr. about him not getting enough formula during the day and the Dr. said that he would drink what he needed. He said not to worry that he would get what he needed from the solids. Good Luck! :-)

Hey there, my son who is 8 months old today, is going through the same thing. He LOVES to eat any kind of food. I noticed that he was not getting as much milk as I would like him to so I have started to breast feed him before he eats his food. It has worked out well. He eats 3 meals a day with a snack here and there and has started to get a lot more milk. I would say try to nurse before meals. My son still eats a LOT of his food and is getting plenty of milk.

Hi Sushmita!

My daughter is doing the same thing! She really likes eating her meals and doesn't really want the bottle as much anymore. I feed her a fruit & cereal in the morning, a meal (usually meat and veggie combo) for lunch, a fruit in the afternoon, and a meal at night. I would say that she is now only consuming about 12 ounces of formula per day. I think that as long as your daughter is eating solids and consuming some formula, she is perfectly healthy. You might want to try giving her some of the meals with the meats and veggies in them.
