My Daughter eats EVERYTHING? should i be concerned?

My daughter is 18 months old. and she will eat anything she can get into her mouth she is by no means a picky eater at all . i am just concerned when she eats Dog food, rocks anything that she can get her hands on. even after she eats her dinner she still tries to eat anything she can find. my son who is 2 never did this but was still a good eater. i dont know if i should be concerned or not. i have a apt scheduled with her doctor i just wanted to check with other moms to see if this is just a stage or if i should be worried.. thank u!

At this age toddlers love to put everything in their mouths. My 19 month old son loves to eat food. I would say that he too is a good eater. But, he also likes to put rocks, dog food and anything he can find into his mouth. He ate so much playdough one day it made him sick, LOL he's learning to keep that out of his mouth now. But, I wouldn't be worroid about it its a stage of toddlers.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. My daughter is 18months and is exactly the same, she sometimes finds things and comes up to me with them sticking out her mouth likes its a game and wants me to take it away. There has been times she has eaten her dinner, and still wants more, so we give her some fruit, but then she still goes to grabs things off our plates! I have an older boy who is now 4yrs, and i didnt have anything like that with him...maybe its a girl thing, and they feel they can have everything!! lol. But if you want some reasurrence, there is no harm in taking her to the doctors.

I wouldn't worry yet because they are still at the age where they put everything in their mouth. My little one eats crayons all the time. If it continues I would definitely bring it up to the doctor but it is probably too early to worry about Pica. Mention it to your ped if you are really concerned, and make sure to watch what she is putting in her mouth. A big worry could be lead and while a lot of it has been eliminated I still don't let my son put toys in his mouth because you never know.

i just was not sure if it might have been a a inbalance in her body or something and she is looking for it in these other things.. like the diease picca i think thats how its spelled

my daughter is an awesome eater when it comes to food and has been trying to eat rocks and stuff, recently it has been crayons, when she is playing. When they are babies they use their mouths to learn about the world, that is why they put everything in their mouths. By now you can tell them what not to eat but they will still try. As long as its not poison she should be fine. Just keep an eye on her, and a little dog food won't hurt her! I know when i was younger I ate it as well as a lot of other people. Even though it is made for dogs it is still safe for humans. good luck!!!
