Pillows?

My daughter Jasmine, has had a pillow in her cot for 3mths now she's going to be 2 in June, she definietley likes her pillow, it's a soft junior pillow I got from kmart.

We have a huge fluffy teddybear in the living room that Hailey always sat against as a pillow or laid on to drink her bottles, then we gave her a big pillow that she used the same way and I found that when she was sleepy she would get her blanket and lil bear and go lay down on the pillow to rest. So I took her pillow to her crib and she would snuggle into it and close her eyes, because it was so big (and took up so much space) I traded it for an oversized doggy pillow that is more like a stuffed animal and she treats it like a normal pillow. She's been sleeping with the pillow or doggy pillow for a couple months now.

I think, as with most things, it depends on your child and your comfort zone!

My daughter (20 months) loves pillows. If there is a pillow on the couch, she will throw it on the ground and plop herself onto it and "pretend" she's sleeping. In her crib, she has one of those pillows that turn into animals (that she got for this past Christmas), but she doesn't use it. She doesn't have restless nights or anything like that. I've heard that babies don't need pillows at this age, but I could be wrong. Basically we're going to try to go without a pillow for as long as possible.

My boy is 20 months now and he has been sleeping with a pillow for quite a while now. It made the transission easier for him going to sleep in his won bed....he had his OWN SPECIAL PILLOW.

I put an elephant pillow on her bed when she was congested a few months ago because the bed elevator was steep enough. she usually ends up next to it, but I'm not worried about her suffocating because she moves a lot in her sleep. if you're going to get a pillow, you should get an animal like I did, he will love it!

I just did with my little one and it did a miracle. She was having a really bad cough, and more so after she woke up so I tried with the pillow and it was completely gone. Not only does she sleep well over night but her naps have gone from 30 minutes to 3 hours and you can tell she is so happy and rested. Best thing I could have done for her

i started using a pillow for my son a few mos ago and he seems to like falling asleep on it but wont stay there so i let him fall asleep on it and before i go to bed i go in and taske it out of his crib and he never whines for it through the night

my daughter has been sleeping with a pillow since shes been about a year. start off with a small one and then up the size thats what i did. i didnt find it changed how she slept

for approx 6 weeks my daughter wanted to sleep in our bed with our pillows. eventually we just put a spare pillow of ours in her cot. but she still wouldnt settle in her cot so we moved her to a 'big bed' and now she sleeps fantastic and has her own pillow that she loves.
also, when she was in the cot with the pillow she never used it to try to get out. she never tried to get out. just told us in other ways that she didnt want it anymore.

O awsome, I have been thinking about this for a while now. Im glad to hear other parents have same question.
Im a little scared though about it being in her bed though. And Im wondering where to get a pillow for a cot from?

My daughter got a pillow at 20 months; when we moved her into her toddler bed. And it is a travel sized pillow.

My son is 20 months. He has had a pillow in his crib for quite some time now, I can't remember exactly when I started doing it. Probably since he was about 15 months or so. He was beginning to bunch up his blankets and sleep on that to get comfortable. I was worried he was going to wrap his head up in the blankets, so I put a nice broken-in fllattened pillow from our bed and that has been perfect! I didn't want to give him too puffy of a pillow either--that had me worried.

I have always(since about 5 months) put a pillow in the bed with both of my kids..they are flatter pillows to begin with and then as they got older we gave them bigger ones..I have always found them to sleep better with a pillow. If you are concerned about it start with a flatter pillow for a few days and decide from there.

My little girl is only 6 months and she has had a pillow in her bed since she was either 2 or 3 months, she lays perfectly still on her side and sleeps with no problem... she loves her pillow lol... i hope that helps!

My daughter has had a pillow in her crib since she was one. It's a regular-sized pillow, but not too fluffy. She sleeps wonderfully! She never moves it or anything, it stays right where I put it. She has not had any problems at all!

I made my daughter a blanket and a thin pillow to match. It is about the size you would use for daycare but very thin. I figured I'd let her get used to that and then I'll rip it open and double the thickness and let her get used to that before moving on to a regular pillow.

My son since he was born would not lay flat on his back. He always wanted to be elevated. We he started sleeping in his own room in his crib we gave him a pillow to sleep with so that his head would be elevated. He is now 21 mon. and will not go to sleep with out one. I think that he has slept better with it but it is hard for me to tell.

Thomas has used a pillow for a long time now. He sleeps with us and in his own bed. (First in his bed ends up in ours) LOL. He alwayse slept better. its obviously not a big plush pillow. but he loves it. And some nights he moves off his pillow and sleeps on only the mattress. Or he will crawl ontop of the pillow and sleep right on it with his butt in the air. You could try it. Get a flatter pillow and put it in his crib with nap times.. and then compare and maybe do night time

I put a pillow in liams been months ago because he wasnt sleeping very well and that went ok for a while. he started sleeping in my bed alot and got used to 2 pillows. now he has 2 thin ones and sleeps really well.

My son always slept with us when he was younger he hated his crib, refused to sleep in it, so he always used my pillow. So when we moved into our new house and got him a twin bed I gave him my pillow and it made the transition easy for us. Some nights he wants to sleep with us and he carries his pillow in our room! He loves it!

My son has been sleeping with a pillow for a really long time. he had severe acid reflux, though, so the doctor suggested it alot earlier than usual. We've had do problems.

my son has had a pillow in his crib since he was about 13 months old(he is 20 months now). It's a flatter pillow...not fluffy at all. He needed it in the beginning because he had really bad croup a few times and needed to be raised up to help him breathe better...now he just uses it because he likes it.

My son is 20 months and he has always slept on a pillow...As a baby he had colic and acid reflux so the pillow really helped and now he still like to snuggle with it and I just used a stranded size pillow.

i put a flat old pillow of mine in my daughters cot when she was about 4 months old, she was having trouble digesting her food while she slept and would regurgitate it and spit it out, so by propping her up a bit it stopped all that...
but i switched her to a normal cot pillow by the time she was 7 months old and she has had it ever since..
but if you are worried about him having a pillow in his cot, take the mattress out and place the pillow on top of it, then cover the pillow with a single bed sheet and wrap it around the whole mattress and pin it into place underneath... at least this way he won't be able to move the pillow or get underneath it.. make sure it is nice and tight and it wont come off...!! good luck

I found a toddler pillow at babies r us for my daughter. It's made of memory foam and she loves it! She sleeps so much better now that she has a pillow which mean I sleep better too.

My little one has also had a pillow for a couple of months now. I put one in the cot when she had a cold to help her breathe better and she keeps getting them so we've kept it in there. It's a regular adult pillow and nice and squishy. She seems to like it.

My son has had a pillow in his crib since he started sleeping in it, at age 1. But, it is a very flat pillow, no fluff to it whatsoever. He loves it.

My daughter is 20 months and we put a pillow in her crib when she was about 16 months. She was a terrible sleeper but ever since we put the pillow in her crib she actually curls up her whole body on the pillow and sleeps. She still does that now in her toddler bed.

My daughter has always seemed to have a pillow... well not true really. But when staying at my mothers for a few weeks when Shannon was about 6 months, she started putting a pillow in her cot & Shannon got so used to it that she wouldn't sleep without one. We used to have it under the sheet but now we just put it in on top like normal. She's still in her cot and I think I'll wait till she's around 2 before moving her into her own bed.

I have also pondered this question. Plunket advised me that they shouldn't have a pillow until the child is at least 3 years old - as it might smother the child in sleep. But then again I think my daughter would feel more comfortable with a flat pillow. So I really don't know.

I put a full pillow with a Little Miss Sunshine pillow case in my daughter's crib when she was 16mos old as she has been sleeping better ever since. She use to take the pillows off the couch & lay on the floor w/them and a blanket so I thought I would try it out to see if she was ready. The pillow covers one full end of her crib so I was not concerned and she LOVED having it!

Most people that I have spoken to have told me my daughter, 20 months old, is still to young for a pillow. Her doctor says the longer we can go without a pillow the better off she will be. Hope this helps.

My first son had a pillow shortly after his first birthday. Did the same thing with the youngest. They seem to sleep better. Although my boys still don't keep the covers on, but they are warm alot and start sweating. You gotta do what's best for the child. We experimented with the pillow to make sure he was sleeping better with the pillow. Now the youngest can't sleep without his pillow or his little puppy and monkey. gotta love our kids

My daughter is 20months and i just started letting her sleep with a pillow in her toddler bed. I was always afraid that she might suffocate. Even when she was in her crib i would put on a warm pj instead on putting blankets on her and i would turn up the heat in her room if it got a little nippy. With my second daughter i find i'm a alot less stress. She's 3 months and ahe sleeps with a blanket on and i'll probably let her sleep with a pillow a lot sooner then her sister.

My son has been sleeping with a pillow for a few months now. He would always pull the couch pillows off the couch and want to use them to lay on so we tried a pillow in his crib and he loves it. We use a normal size pillow that isn't very thick. He loves it and usually sleeps more than 8 hours at night now.

I have had a pillow in Nick's crib for months. Started when Dr suggested propping him while sleeping so he can breath better when stuffed up and coughing. Now he loves his pillow.

My son who is 20 months has used a pill for quite sometime. He is in a toddler bed now though. He had it before he was in the bog boy bed though. He sleeps well with it, and I have not had any problems with it now or when he was in a crib.

My son is 20 months old, and in a toddler bed. He doesn't have a pillow, and I don't think he needs one. He sleeps fine without one...Sometimes when he's in my bed, he'll sleep on my pillow, but I don't think I will give him one in his bed until he starts to ask for one, or grabs one of mine to put in there.

Noah has had a pillow iin his crib since he could roll over on his own. I know that is bad but his crib was in our room and he absolutely would not sleep in the crib without one. At the time we were co sleeping so he was used to having pillows in bed with us. So he needed one in the crib too.

I do -- I've had a pillow in with Sebastian since right around his birthday. It's really flat, though; more like a body pillow for babies than a regular fluffy pillow.

My son already use a pillow when he starts fall asleep. babies like to mimic their parents. But after a few hour he will abandon the pillow. For safety, use small pillow, so it lessen risk it covering his face or nose.

hi, i have been using a pillow in the cot now for ages, he is 20months now and has been using one from about 6 months of age, i used a very thin pillow, he has slept right through the night from that night.

I just asked my doctor this question and she said it was up to me and that there were no health or safety reasons why my daughter could not have a pillow. I just haven't seen any small enough for a toddler (or pillow case) yet to put in her bed or I would have already bought her one.
