I really really don't want to go back to work either. I'm due back June 14th, 2009 (daughter was born June 5th, 2008). The only reasons I am going back is so I can build up Maternity Leave again (I have to work 600 hours before taking another year off). Also, I work overnights... my daughter will be sleeping when I'm working and I will hopefully not miss too much while at work. She sleeps great through the night and wakes up at 11 a.m. so I'll still be able to get about 6 hours of sleep in a night. I hate my job though, and am dreading going back. I'm going to miss my baby!! :*(

i went back full time 3 weeks after mine was born to a hot sticky hectic kitchen and i loved it! it gets me out of the house every day, i get to have social interaction, and i'm not broke all the time! well, i wasn't before slow season started. for me going back to work and having a different "stress" to take my mind off the stress of taking care of my baby definately helps me a lot! but everyone is different. i know a few moms my age that won't work at all because they feel they don't have the time. so it's up to you1

I work part time and probably could not have handled full time. Some moms do it and they are great at getting everything in. I am not one of them. If you are this anxious then part time may be a good fit for you. The first week or two will be REALLY hard no matter what so just give yourself permission to be nervous and sad or not... you may really enjoy the grown up time. I find that I like work days and look forward to mommy days too. Its all about finding the right balance for you. Also factor in if your little one is sleeping through the night. Mine is not so full time would not be successful for me.

This is definitely a tough question. I went back to work after my 1st child and also returned again after my 2nd child last Sept. A pro for me was that I like the social interaction and would miss it if I stayed at home all day. Another pro of course the extra income, which helps us enjoy life and give the girls more. The con is that I miss the kids so much. But I've learned to make the time I'm with them as meaningful as I can...and I cherish that time.
So like Lisa posted, if you like what you do, I would consider going back.
It's really a personal decision - you know what's best for you! :-)

Well, if I had the money I would probably only work a few part time hours, or not at all. If you really enjoy what you do (which I don't) then you might miss it. I wish I was able to be home with my son more. Hope this helps. :)
