My son, Zach, who is 16 months old, was sick for a few days and was waking up after a few hours of sleep wanting water, so we gave him water. Well, he is now feeling better but is still waking up after a few hours of sleep wanting water. Should my husband and I just ignore him now and let him cry like we always did when he woke up even though we know he wants water, or should we leave a sippy with some water in the crib so if does wake up, he will have water to drink? I am worried that if he has water in the middle of the night in his crib, he will start waking up more often wanting it. I spent enough time when he was a newborn teaching him to sleep through the night and I don't want to go back there...thoughts???

I KNOW YOUR FEELING MY 16 MONTH OLD IS DOING THE SAME THING WHAT I HAVE NOTICED IS BY GIVING THEM SOMETHING TO DRINK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT JUST STARTS A HABIT THAT YOU DONT WANT I KNOW IT IS HARD TO LISTEN TO THEM CRY BUT IT IS BETTER TO CORRECT IT NOW THEN LATER ALSO MAYBE AFTER A FEW NIGHTS HE MAY NOT WANT IT NO MORE AFTER YOU PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN. I ALSO HAVE A 6YR OLD AND WE HAD A WETTING TO BED PROBLEM BECAUSE WE KEPT GIVING IN AND LETTING HER DRINK BEFORE SHE WENT OT BED AND EVEN THROUGH THE NIGHT SO THERE CCAN BE BIGGER PROBLEMS TO COME FROM THIS JSUT BE STRONG AND DONT GIVE IN YOU CAN DO
