So, my daughter has been in 24mo/2T clothes for a few months now. And I was looking to start buying her summer clothes. So she won't be 2 till June. She's about 25 pounds now. Not sure if I should start getting 3T's or stick with 2T's. I do live in Michigan so she will only be wearing summer clothes through Sept. I don't want to buy 3t's and her clothes be falling off all summer. I buy big lots of clothes on e-bay so I can't just try them on her. Maybe I'll have to go try on some 3T's at the store and see how big they are. Please help!

I honestly haven't bought any yet. My daughter is in between 12 and 18month stuff. She's a teeny tiny thing. The 12 months fit around the waist and things but are too short and the 18 months are the right length but too big around the waist. So I've been waiting. I have a hard time buying her any clothes. It's like a guessing game.

My daughter is 2 june 19th and weighs about 25lb and she still fits in some 12-18months clothing. Ebay have been known for some greast mix bundles. To be honest with you best to mix the sizes i am gonna do from 12months to 24 months in clothing and my daughter also wears 2-3yrs clothing depends on where clothign has come from.

My daughter will be 2 June 8th and right now she is 21lbs, and wearing 18months...she is about to go into 24month in shirts etc but in the waist she is still 18 with a belt, so i will be mix and matching 24m and 18thm for summer, as she doesn't gain weight very quickly.

3T's are a big jump from 2T. Not like when they were younger and we could buy a size fit for 6 months older. I'd stick with the 2T, unless she's popping out of them now.

I am in Kenya and we do not have summer/winter. But I believe for summer you need to buy her light clothes, not soooooo fitting. For the size, you can take her along with you while shopping and she can measure to fit and then purchase. All the best. Diana

It all depends on the size of the baby!!! My little one will be 2 in june, and we just recently got him 18 months, however we still have some 12 month from last year that still fit him!!. Also dont forget, if ur baby is in 2T longsleeves and pants for the length because they are tall, then you can prolly stick with 2T shorts and shortsleeves because even if they grow a lil they are not going to need the length.... its not like shorts can be highwaters, so and inch or so growth over the summer usually wont make a big difference.

lol.. my monkey must be huge! he's 35lbs. and I'm getting 4Ts for summer! He's not a "chubby-chubby" baby.. very proportionate.. Just big. I just got his sandles and they are a size 9! He will be 2 on June 4th. The 4Ts are a little long, but he should only get taller not bigger around his little belly! 3Ts JUST fit right now.

Umm you never really want the clothes to be too big, especially if it is a girl! My son is 22mo also and I buy him 3T this is not that big on him, I guess it all depends on a baby weight and size. and it also depends on where you shop for clothes. I shop everywhere and you must know if the material is going to shrink! ...if so buy an extra size up...if not get the size that fits her best! just remember, the washing machine is not you best friend it will eat up to 10% of your money!

Both of my boys are ahead of the "sizing charts" Derrik 2 in June is now in 2T and sometimes 3t. I learned from my first on in order to get more use out of the summer clothes or any other season go up a size. These little buggers can really grow. Of course with boys its not about a whole dress falling off them. For me its usually keeping the pants up, since niether of my boys have a waist. So I did by a lot of separates

My daughter will be 2 in June and she has been wearing 3T Capri, T shirts, shorts, and other hand me downs from her sister. If the clothes on EBay have been washed then buy 3T-4T. If the clothes are brand new then 2T long pants but 3T everything else. That way you have the possibility of your daughter wearing those clothes the following summer. Good Luck!

my daughter wears 18 months clothes & i buy her some things in 24 months & 2T's i bought some pants in 2T's but pants are still bout an inch too big on her even with shoes on so 18 months works perfect i got her some shorts from belks at a good price & i got 2T b/c they had the button thing on the inside with the strap so they fit her perfect shirts i buy her 24 months & capres i buy 18 months b/c some 24 months capres look like pants on her my daughter only weights 25 pounds & 31 inches (could be different since that was at her 18 month check up)

my daughter has alwayz been porportional with height & weight & everything so you just should go by how your child is.

My son will be 2 in June and is 33lbs. I just started buying 3T although he can fit some 2Ts. I always just get a size bigger because some things WILL shrink and so he will have wiggle room! 3T pants are a little big around the waist so I look for the adjustable waist pants.

I am in the same situation except my son is about 24 lbs. He is slim and I buy 24 mos clothing. Occasionally I'll buy size 2 like for pajamas but size 24months to 2t should be fine.

I buy as needed. My son fits in 24 months (if it's a 2 piece) and some 2T's but they are still long on him and he is above average for height. However I do think his legs are shorter and he has a long torso which give him the height. I go into the carters store all the time. I look at the new outfits and then I go to the sale rack. I noticed that when a new color or pattern comes out even though the outfit is exactly the same i.e. new one has yellow shirt with a monkey face old one has a green shirt with a monkey face. The old one goes on sale and can be as little as 4.99 - 7.99 for the whole outfit. I also wash his clothes a lot so we don't have to keep such a huge wardrobe. That's how we get through it. This way if I notice mid summer the 2T is too small and I need 3T....I will just go to the sale rack and buy some new bottoms or tops...whichever he needs. Sometimes I notice the tops last longer then the bottoms. They are so cute at that age you can get away with dressing them in just about anything and they look fabulous. They only thing I don't cheap out on is shoes and a nice outfit for a holiday or special occasion but even then sometimes I get lucky with a sale. Also, Carters always sends coupons and if you forget yours and you ask, they always have an extra in the drawer.

my sons body is kind of weird,, hes big on the top but small on the bottom, his dr said hes gunna have the body of a linebacker bc hes pure muscle.. hes been in 3t shirts for a few months now and hes still in 18 month pants.. he has to wear a belt for his 2t pants.. if it looks like her 2t shirts and skirts are getting too small get 3t or just get a bunch of both sizes and then sell back the ones that dont fit anymore.

Hi there Nikki,

I know what you mean....my kids are growing like weeds and it's hard to predict what size they will be all through the summer. May I suggest you try looking for clothes with adjustable waists.....that way it can grow with your child. Since you have a girl if you buy her sundresses and they are a little loose I don't think it would be much of an issue just as long as she doesn't trip on them. I think you best bet is like you said to go into a store and have her try one the size 3 and 3T and then you will be able to make a final choice. Don't forget no two manufacturers size the same, i.e. my daughter can no longer wear girls 6X t-shirts that has anything to do with Disney but she can wear 6X in BUM Equipment from Wal-Mart....it all depends on the cut and fit of the clothing. Good luck.

If you buy 3T and they are still fitting come fall you can layer with long sleave shirts and tights or babylegs under shorts/skirts.

I'm on the other end of the scale. My son will be 2 in June and is still wearing his size 12 months clothing. I don't know if I should buy 18month or 24.

My Daughter will be 2 June 8. She's getting to where even the 2T shorts are getting to be too short! We're going to have to upgrade to the 3T's starting now. It's been super duper hot in SC!

Mine will be 2 on June 23 and she's still wearing 18 month clothes. So we're buying some 18 month and 24/2T clothes. I get a lot of mine at the thrift stores. You can find some really good deals.

My daughter is the same age, she's 26 pounds and 33 1/2 inches tall. She's been wearing 2T as well. I find in some brands that the t-shirts just fit, and in others they are long and loose. The pants are almost too big, and pretty long on her, but her 18-24 mo. pants are too short. I definitely don't expect her to grow into 3T clothes over the summer. Her growth is slowing way down compared to what it has been, and she's not growing much bigger around, she's just growing taller. If I were you, I'd stick with the 2T. My daughter started wearing 2T shirts last fall, and 2T pants early this year. She'll be in the shirts at least until this fall or winter if not until next year, and the pants DEFINITELY until next year. If you only want the stuff to fit until September, get what fits her now, because she's not going to be growing as fast as she did last year.

I would buy 3T from eBay. I always find a size up is better if buying blind especially if you buy used clothes. I am lucky I have loads of both from my first daughter.

My son is 30lbs and 33.5in tall. He can still wear 18m pants, though they are snug in the waist. I've been buying 24/2t. He is bigger on top then bottom. He's been able to wear some of his 24/2t tops for a while.

My daughter will be 2 on June 6th. She's 35" tall and 27lbs. She's currently in 2T tops, about 24 month/2T bottoms(tend to be a lil big around the waist-she's a skinny little thing but tall) and we have 3T hoodies. I've only gotten 3T's in tops for summer, but I wouldn't doubt if she's still able to wear last summer's 18mos. in shorts. So for us, it's 3T tops and anywhere from 18 month to 3T bottoms for summer. Depends on the brand. It's so hard to buy for them! I get rid of so much stuff she never even manages to wear.

My son has always been big for his age and he is in some 18mo still but moving into 24 months daily. I think by summer he's still be in the 24 mo.

[deleted account]

My daughter is 26lbs. She will be 2 June 8th. She already is in 24mth/2t. And depending on the brand 3t. The clothing size I buy now is 3t and up. I would rather roll up sleeves & pant legs than have small clothes.

I would get some 2Ts and some 3Ts. More than likely the 3Ts will shrink when you wash them and they should fit perfect for summer! My daughter is wearing 2Ts now also, I bought her mostly 2Ts though for summer.

[deleted account]

I think 3t would be best since shes already into 2t. Mine is still in 18 months so Im buying 24/2ts for his summer stuff. He will be 2 in June as well. Actually going tomorrow to the local munchkin market for their summer and spring sale. Good luck.
