Hello,

My five month old recently stopped babbling and now only blows raspberries. He seems to be amused by this new skill and makes other grunting noises. Has anyone had this experience? Should I be worried?

Thanks for your advice.

My son just stared in on the rasperries and grunting sounds. He still makes other noises sometimes, but during tummy time he only makes this funny grunting sound and when he's in his Exer Saucer he seems to mostly do the rasperries.

Mine too. He's constantly exploring his voice with different sounds. It's been high pitched chirps and raspberries for about a week now..

I recently read that at this age once they learn a new skill they become obsessed with mastering it and won't bother doing things they already know. Sounds like a classic example and I am sure it will be fine!

From what I have been told, they do this sometimes and it is not something to be alarmed about unless it continues for very long. He may just be really into raspberries right now and when that novelty wears off he will be back to babbling. When my little bug discovered he could make Mommy laugh with raspberries it is all he did for about 5 days straight, now he is making all kinds of other sounds again and has incorporated the raspberry into a broader repertoire of silliness.
