My son will be 6 months on the 25th and is not crawling! Not even trying! When ever he is on his belly he lifts up his legs and arms and throws them around every where! lol. he loves it, we say it looks like he's swimming!! But people are always telling me he should be crawling soon! He can use his arms and lift up his upper body, but has never tried to get on his knees!

hey, my name is lexi. i have a 2yr old and a 7mth old, dont listen to ppl when they tell you what your child should be doing, every baby is different, my 2yr old started to crawl at 9mths, then went on to walk and talk late compaired to all my friends kids, my 7mths old has been crawling now for a few weeks, its the drag crawl but its something at least... you little boy will start when he is ready and strong enough, dont stress the longer they stay in one spot the better for your own health, my little one is into everything and i have to watch him every min of every day. they grow up so fast just enjoy him while he is so little, good luck he is a very beautiful little man

Quoting Jennifer:

my daughter is seven months today, and still hates being on her tummy.  She will push up and squirm but has no interest in using her knees.  Everytime we put her on her tummy she just rolls over to her back and plays that way- so we cant even really do anything about it!  She does everything else she should be doing now- just hates the idea of crawling.  She had a checkup today and her dr was not even the slightest bit concerned.  hope I helped.

My daugher is the same exact way!!! She went to the Dr yesterday and he said she was just where she needed to be developmentally, if not ahead. So I'm really NOT worried! The later she becomes mobile, the better in my opinion. She's already growing WAY tooooooo fast!!!

My daughter just turned 6 months old on Dec. 26 and had her check-up last Friday. I told the doctor that she isn't interested in crawling yet (same thing -- doesn't even try to get to her knees), and he said that it's really early and many babies don't crawl until 9 months. Lots of people have told me she should be crawling "soon" ... I'm learning to just smile and let it go!

My son is 7 months and he does the army crawl and every so often will get up on his knees and rock back and forth but hasn't quite figured out the actual crawling motion...the alternating hands and knees and such...but he's very good at the army crawl and is getting faster at it!

My son will be 7 months on 1/17 and is a master at Army crawling, and honestly shows no interest in wanting to do the real thing! He's perfectly content dragging his legs all around the house.

My daughter turned 7 months last week and has been crawling for 3 weeks now! Gone are the days when she was where you left her two seconds ago! LOL.

She was in a hip harness for the first 3 months of her life and we thought she would take longer than other babies, but it seems to have strengthened her legs more than normal. She is even pulling herself up and trying to stand.

My daughter just turned 7months on the 6th.  She does crawl and has been for about 3 weeks.  But she will not sit on her own.  She has no sense of balance when we try to sit her up.  She was rolling over from her back to her stomach but since she started to crawl, when we put her on her back she just lays there like a turtle on it's shell.  Its like someone said that they sometimes go backwards before going forwards.

Mine is 7 months and isn't crawling yet - apparently it has everything to do with how often they were on their tummies as newbies. Don't worry at ALL !! They say it's more like 8 or 9 months for most babies. He sounds like he is doing all the same things that everyone elses babies are doing!!!

Liam started "army crawling"  at 5 months, but only recently at about 6.5 months did he bother to go up on his knees, and even now when he wants to go faster he will army crawl.  Guess he is just lazy.

My first son did it as well (never went up on knees) and our pead said he considers army crawling to acceptable as the midline is still crossed

He also has started pushing himself backwards so i know the crawling is coming soon! Im a little nervous about that! lol

My son is 6 1/2 months old and loves rolling on his tummy but is still struggling to roll back onto his back and gets frustrated when he can't (I was told it could be because he is a tall broad shouldered baby... I am feeling slightly doubtful...). He does mini pushups pretty well and is a master at rolling onto his tummy. Then he kicks his little legs like a frog but can't move. He can sit up with help but can't do it by himself or stay seated without me holding him. I was told that boys develop slower than girls on that front but I must admit to getting frustrated or worried in the past especially when other parents at baby group bang on about what their little treasures can do. Now I just let him get on with things, when he is ready he'll do it, no need to push him. He's started to do a weird back crawling where he lifts his bum off the ground by pushing on his feet and starts crawling backwards like this... wonder where he picked that up lol!

My youngest is a few days away from being 7 months and just started crawling the other day. It all depends on the baby, they decide when they are ready. Don't worry at all. My cousins daughter never crawled, from what I understand she scooted around on her bum all the time. I also know of another baby who was born a day before my daughter and he is just getting the hang of rolling.

My daughter was born 6-10 and she started crawling when she had just turned 5 months. She is super crazy though, I don't even know how she learned. My son was an early walker (at about 7 months 3 weeks), but he didn't start crawling until 7.5 months. I've also heard from my doctor that some babies that walk at normal speeds never crawl. Anyway though, your baby is showing all the signs of being able to crawl soon and that is probably why people keep saying he should be doing it soon. Have you tried putting his knees underneath him when he is in the rest of the crawling position? We did that with both of our kids and it seemed to help. He may even be crawling by now, it has been 2 weeks since you posted this...

My baby is not interested in crawling yet either, I really would not worry about it. My older daughter did not crawl until almost 9 months old then she crawled, stood and walked all in the same week. As long as your ped it not worried, you should not be worried.

My son will be 7 months on the 7th. He just figured out how to sit up in the last week and it's his new favorite thing. Before that he did the swimming thing, then the butt up in the air and kick out, and now he "crawls" by dragging himself around with his arms - like a seal - haha! Hopefully he'll soon figure out that if he uses his legs it's a lot easier!

My daughter will be 7 months on the 7th. She started moving about by just rolling across the floor. Then she started an army crawl, and now she has figured out how to crawl in the traditional way. She's also pulling up to standing! However, there are other mothers I have talked to with children who were born close to her birthday who aren't able to do these things. I do however have a big baby, so that may have something to do with it.

My daughter is 6 mos 2 weeks and she does all of the motions of crawling but does not get up and actually move forward. Sheseems to prefer rolling. She can roll from one side of the room to the other if I let her but she will not crawl. I am a bit worried, I think that I will ask my ped about it.

Anyway, it sounds like your little one is coming along fine, I don't think that many babies are crawling at this point so I wouldn't worry if I were you.

She scoots in a cicrle and kicks her legs and arms too like she is swimming so I'm thinking she just has to get it all together and she will have it--hopefuly soon!! So it seems your son and Emma are almost there.

Lol, not that another person will help you feel better about it, but my daughter isn't interested in crawling either. she's 6 months on the 30th. she loves to sit up and to have someone hold herso she can stand and bounce, but she just doesn't like being on her tummy. about once a day for a few minutes we try layin gher on her tummy and we put a toy just out of the reach of her finger tips and let her try to get it. she's starting to scoot towards the toy, but she quickly gives up and starts crying. i'm not worrited about it or wanting it to happen any soon than it will. as soon as they can get around, they get into EVERYTHING which is something i'm just not ready for yet myself.

My daughter will be 6 months on the 26th and she started out with the "swimming" thing. Just this past week when we set her bottle or toy across the room she would push, kick, flail, and scoot herself forward to get to it. I don't think it's "crawling" yet but it's a start. Like what all the other moms said, I wouldn't worry about it. All babies develop at different times.

As well as having another baby that doesnt have any interest in crawling yet, i also work in a field where we ask for details about children meeting their milestones, siting, rolling over, walking, crawling etc - and we think the average is about 9 months before a baby starts to try to crawl about. They generally go backwards before going forwards and ever baby is soooo individual, your baby will crawl when its right for him or her.

Kids develop at different stages. My nephew just started crawling and he's 8 months. My son started at 7. No need to worry....just enjoy this time before he starts crawling...time to child proof the home...grrrrr!
