I am 38 weeks and my doctor now says I have extra fluid around my baby due to gestational diabetes and he wants to know if the baby's lungs are developed enough. But he wants to deliver me thursday the 18th and I am very afraid of the procedure and don't feel a need for it especially when on the sonogram you can see the baby breathing well.

I thought a baby's lungs were developed ok by 38 weeks? Does GB affect this in anyway? Plus, by the time he delivers you, you'll be even further along. I've never had an amnio done so I'm not sure of the risks and can't really say if I'd get one or not.
