my daughter does this too. ive noticed its worse when shes cutting a tooth. one thing that ive found that works for her anyway, is giving her some cheerios to munch on. you could try that and maybe itll work for your little one too

thanks for all your help! but i have found he has taken back to the dummy as if it were away from him for only 5 minutes and that is helping a treat so i hear no more grinding and have stopped stressing on him damaging his teeth!

My Son started grinding his teeth also about 3 months ago. I have brought him Nuby ice Bite teething key ring. I just put them in the fridge or freezer for 5 min and he bites it and it stops him from grinding. My though on it is he is interested in what these random things are and so he moves his teeth and it probably feels good on sore teeth, plus teething gums....try this website to get a better idea of what i mean.....http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/nuby-icy... Cheers hope it helps :)

I checked it out online and apparently they're suppose to grow out of it but until then it really drives you up a wall! My daughter loves saying Hi all the time 24/7 so when she does it, just to get her to stop I'd say hi. She started two weeks ago and I haven't noticed her doing it for about there days now, so I'm hoping she forgot about it. But I don't think she can do too much damage as they're not her permanent teeth, but it's still annoying!

Sarah, Bonjela is the Australian equivalent of Orajel here in the States. Panadol is paracetamol, but similar to Tylenol here in the US. I have no idea how the gripe water works for the teeth grinding. I just know that it does for my little girl! I think sometimes when they are teething and having all that extra saliva and weird things going on in their mouths that it does cause some sort of tummy upset. We just tried the gripe water and it was like instant relief. Also, if she gets really bad with grinding and drooling and biting on things, I sometimes either rub a little bit of Children's dye-free Benadryl on her gums (because I think they itch when the teeth are coming through) and if that doesn't seem to be working and it's near bedtime, I will give her 1/2 of a teaspoon of the dye-free children's benadryl. I don't recommend doing that a lot though since it's a pretty strong antihistamine and it raises blood pressure. I have also rubbed a little pure vanilla extract (not the imitation stuff--it has alcohol in it) on her gums and it sometimes helps. I think they grind their teeth because it gives some relief from the discomfort, not because they aren't used to them, but who knows...maybe it's a little of both!

Hi, my daughter was grinding her teeth almost constantly, too! We had some Bonjela left over from when we lived in Australia and it didn't really seem to help much. When my daughter was grinding really badly, I would (and still do) give her this stuff called "Gripe Water". I don't know if you can get it in AU if that's where you are...just assuming you are because of the medicines you named. We used to get her this stuff that was for upset tummies at the chemist there but I can't remember what it was called! It was for colic mainly, but it really helps with the grinding too; for us anyway. Maybe you could try that?!? Good luck!
