My daughter will be 7 months on the 30th and she has always hated tummy time! I have tried propping her up, using a playmat, laying in the floor with her, and putting her on my chest but she will only last about 3 minutes before she starts getting upset. I think it is more frustration than anything else because she is a very busy and nosey child. She can sit up on her own almost completely but still has a couple balance issues. I am just worried that she will not develop the upper arm strength that she needs to start crawling. I play in the floor with her a lot and she reaches for toys and plays with them well while sitting, but when they are a bit far away she will topple over because she can't hold herself up. Is anyone else experiencing this or have advice???

Thank you all so much for your support! I am so relieved to hear that I am not alone in this. I do have a feeling that my daughter will walk first because she loves to stand, jump, and bounce A LOT and is very curious. I suppose she will do what she wants on her own time :)

wow, I'm glad to see others have the same problem. My 7 mo. old will only tolerate being on his tummy for a few minutes until he gets upset. He can roll back on his own, though. I'm sure with time he'll learn to like it once he figures out how to crawl. I'm not in a big hurry for that to start, really!

My daughter will be 7 months also on the 30th and as well hates tummy time too...my doctor told me to do the tummy time little by little so i do them in intervals of 10 minutes... her doctor check her and said she was doing fine so i dont worry...she is sitting unsupported and roll to her side...she will get there so i wont worry...

My little one hates to be on her tummy too! She can get up on her hands and knees and still just screams! She doesn't like to be face down! She is definitely a little thinker and loves to study her surroundings, so I think that's the cause of her frustration. I'm pretty sure she'll walk first. All babies develop differently, so no worries! I'm told to enjoy the lack of mobility anyway!

My daughter is about 7 months and HATES being on her tummy. I cant even try it because she will always roll herself to her back. My daughter loves standing, loves jumping and goes backwards in her walker and sits up pretty well on her own. I've talked to a lot of people about this and everyone has told me not to worry, shes still developing her skills in her own way.

my son HATED tummy time even a second on his tummy would send him into screaming fits then one day around 6 months he rolled onto his tummy for the first time and LOVED it !!! now he spends all his time on his tummy

When she is ready she will do it and be fine, I don't think you need to worry just give her time

Lol this is so funny! My daughter was also born on June 30th and hates tummy time! She rolls over from her back to her stomach and screams her little head off until my husband and I roll her back over, we have tried to just let her scream through it, but after 15 miniutes we just cant take it anymore! the funny thing is she likes to scoot on her back across the room! she also sits up just fine by herself and only topples over when reaching for something that is out of her reach!

my son hates tummy time and still does, i dont really care what other people think or say about my son, he isnt crawling aswell but its really up to them when they are ready to crawl,he's 7 and a half months,he runs around in his walkie so that is good enough for me, you never know both our kids may walk 1st, not all babies crawl 1st

My son was the same way until just a couple of weeks ago and he is 7 months now and loves being on his belly. He is almost crawling. Just keep trying tummy time with her and eventually she will like it!!

My daughter hated tummy time too until about 6 months old. I think it was upsetting her stomach because she would spit up a lot when on her tummy, and she still spits up some sitting on the floor after she eats. Once she started rolling over though, she learned to like it more and has started pushing up on her arms and such now, and doesn't mind the tummy time anymore. She is sitting up pretty well now, but before, I would put a bobby around her to help stabilize her. I would just try to praise her and celebrate her little successes for now - she will get there eventually :)
