6 month old not crawling?

I was told the normal range was typically from 7 to 9 months. My son was up on all fours, swaying forward at 6 months and the pediatrician was impressed at his six month visit. She said a lot of babies aren't even doing that yet. He still is at 7 months, but he is getting a little more forward momentum now. He usually ends up going backward. Another friend's daughter just started really crawling at 8 and a half months. Also, I've heard they need to crawl to help them with language skills, but I know people that are very good communicators that skipped crawling. What always makes you worry, myself included, is that you hear these really early bloomers, but I think while some may be truthful a lot of people are exaggerating or flat out lying. Babies don't walk at 3 months. They just don't. I don't buy it. Prove it.

They say that crawling age can be anything from 6mths to 9mths, but my daughter only ever army crawls and spins around non her belly. I recieved a dvd from pampers about a babies perspective on life and it said that some babies never crawl and just wait to walk and it also said that as long as your baby is rolling or moving around in one way or another by 8mths then there isnt anything to worry about. My lil girl is seven months and not crawling :) she lies on her tummy and uses her arms to turn around in circles, but is not even attempting to move forward or crawl:) all babies develop at there own pace, try not to worry about it

hi my babies r 6mths 2wks and arnt crawling and only one of them is rollin over the other isnt interested at all! my health visitor said notto worry she will be ready when she wants to be!infact one of my nephews has only just crawlin and hes 9 months! so i wouldnt worry

I read an article that 50% of babies start crawling around 7 months:) Sounds like yours is on the right track (once he figures out the hands are useful! lol).

My son just turned 7 months and is not crawling, which worried me but the doctors said it is not neccesary for babies to crawl. So, I guess it's not true that they have to "crawl before they walk". He wiil roll all over the floor and scoot acroos the floor on his back ( very cute), but has always hated being on his stomach. So Krystal, don't worry just enjoy every minut you have with him. They grow up FAST!!

My little boy is 6 and half months and only gets up on his hands and knees and rocks. Otherwise he wriggles on his belly which makes him move backwards, so no crawling yet. I am not too concerned about it most 6 months I know aren't crawling yet.

Hi Krystal! My boy is 6 1/2 months and not crawling either. He puts one knee forward then his arm but then decides to roll over inside to get what he wants.... and from the sounds of all the other post seems like are babies are right on track. Enjoy this stage as long as you can because when they do get moving so will we!!

My son is 7 months old and cannot crawl yet either...he can move around somehow though....he can't sit up on his own for very long but he can roll over and I think he moves around by scooting on his back...sometimes he'll be on his playmat and I'll find him in the hallway...but he doesn't crawl....

My little girl, Brianna, was born June 17th too and she is not crawling either. She rolls from side to side to get around. She is starting to sit up for about a minute at a time now...

My son is 6 months old and is not crawling either...He loves been on his belly and he rolls from his back to his tummy and gets ready like his about to crawl but just has not figuered out how to go yet

My daughter is 6 months old as well, and she hates being on her belly. SHe hasn't even tried to crawl because she just rolls right back over if she gets on her belly. My nephew barely crawled, he pretty much went straight to walking. So I wouldn't worry about it. As long as he is sitting up and is functioning well in all other aspects then i think he is just fine.

yeh my bubby did that for awhile, hes now 6 n a half months n hes crawling, just inching along slowly but hes crawling, he gets where he wants to go!

I definately wouldn't be worried, I only know one person with a 6 month old crawling, and I have friends with kids. My almost 7 month old has only just started sitting up by herself, they all develop at different rates. I think the longer the better until they crawl really, its good when you can put them down somewhere and they will stay there.

Don't worry. Mine is doing the same thing. She has finally figured out that she can get on her hands and knees...but hasn't figured out she can move her hands and knees to move.
However, she met an adorable 8 month old that is crawliong and crusing and standing. And she was like "If he can do it, so can I" so on Christmas she decided if you hold her hands she can walk!

I have been told some babies never really crawl. But I have also been told NEVER crawling messes up the walking development.

In any case, I think it is more annoying than anything because you want to see that milestone. But, I wouldn't worry.
Unfortunately we are working on their time, lol.

Jazmine is almost 7 months and is not crawling. She goes through the motions, but is not coordinated enough yet. Her doc is not worried, she is reaching all her other milestones.

My dr says that they don't need to crawl it's just there way to get around before they walk. So no need to be worried!

My baby is 6.5 months and is rolling one direction only (everywhere), crawls a bit backwards, doesn't really like tummy time, practices rolling and crawling in his sleep then he gets stuck.

hi mydaughter is just 6 months and 4 days old and she rolls over and she dosent have a problem on her tummy and she can lift up but dose not crawl she dose the crab walk in stead she likes being on her back and moveing around and she likes to walk with help of holding her hands and she can stand by her self hanging on to something as well and sits up by her self to but just chooses not to crawl so their is no certain time or age ur child should be crawling maybe he will just skip crawling and walk.

relax u are not alone! You just have a baby like mine does the same thing doctors tell me it's really to early for them to crawl now more like 8 months . Be happy and thankful of this much loved belly time ! Enjoy it and take lots of pictures before they get up andcan crawl away! The doctor showed me how to encourage crawling but more importantly hel build upper body strentgth in thier tummys (my baby was born4 weeks early at 5lbs 10 oz and only weighs now 15 lbs 2 oz )

Hey! My daughter is 6months. She doesn't care for being on her stomach but just figured out how to roll to wherever she wants to be. It's great knowing she isn't the only one not crawling yet. She seems like she doesn't want to do anything but jump in her jump-a-roo so my family jokes that she won't crawl or walk but HOP everywhere. Good luck!

My ped said anytime around 6-8 months and some babies never crawl my daughter is the same age and still isn't we my be the lucky ones that our children never crawl they may go straight to pulling up

I know it is frustrating! All babies learn at different rates! My daughter started crawling at 5 months, but some babies go straight to walking! Maybe your baby is one of those quick learners who will bypass all of ours and go straight to walking!!

I have 3 kids. One crawled at 9 months one at 7 and Collin my new one at 5. ALL different. To be honest I would have loved him to NOT be mobile so early. =))

Don't worry Krystal. Like Amber said, the developmental age for crawling is usually between 8 & 9 months of age. Some babies are earlier developers and crawl from 6 months and as has been said, some never crawl at all and skip straight from sitting to pulling themselves up and walking. I would start to be concerned if bub hadn't started some form of movement by 10 months of age. : )

don't worry, my 6 mopnth old isn't crawling yet either. my other kids started about now but, every kid goes at their own pace. if it really is concerning u consult your pediatrician to get some expert input. :)

my baby is 6 months and not crawling it normal very normal so dont worry. I think my son is going to walk before he crawls. Guess the saying u have to crawl before you walk is sooo wrong!!!

my 6 month old isnt crawling as yet but rolls over to get everywhere lol. she (shelby) pushes her knees under her tummy as if shes going to crawl and then decides not too. my 2 year old did the same. itl happen eventually =)

1. persevere and keep placing baby on the floor with attractive toys or objects that will entice him to go forward. this has helped with my baby boy, who is 6 and a half months. Now we put him down and he doesn't stay still.
2. Don't worry if it takes him a bit longer than normal as he will do it eventually. Good luck!

My 6 month old isn't crawling either. He likes to sit up and doesn't like to lay on his tummy or his back so it will probably be a while until he crawls, if he crawls at all. He might just go from sitting to pulling himself up to walking without crawling. I wouldn't worry about not crawling at this age.

My 6 month is crawling now but when my 3 year old was 6 moths he never did crawl. He went from pulling himself on his tummy to walking. I was worrie dabout it also but on Babycenter.com they said tat babies learn to crawl around 8 months. I dont think it is a big deal if they are not my 6 months. Good Luck!
