My son will be 7 months old next week but has no interest in crawling , can sit with little support but not completely on his own [ he pushes on his legs and falls backwards ] , has been teething since he was 3 months but has still not had any come through . Just wondering if these things are normal and what to do to encourage him to sit and crawl

HI my son will be eight months on the 24th and he has no teeth - is not teething! He will sit for a few minutes unaided but I wouldn't chance him without cushions around him to protect his fall. He will lie on his back for a while, hates tummy time and only seems to move about in his cot and . . . I'm not worried!! He's my third and the other two followed the same pattern. Personally I hate to see them moving on to the next stages as I feel they grow up way to quick!! However I did a good bit of research when my first lady was young and since re. crawling and moving through the developmental stages and have found that this is a good thing as each developmental stage corrolates to develpments in the growing brain muscle and if stages are missed or skipped through too quickly this may result in fewer nerons connecting in the brain so . . this is my excuse for my lazy babies and I'm sticking to it!!

This is CRAZY all kids are different , my daughter didn't get teeth untill she was 18 months which is very old and got really hard organising her diet because everything had to be mashed till then. Plus I find it bizarre that a child can be teething yet not produce teeth , do you not think they he is just having grizzly patches. Babies aren't always happy they can be grizzly and sometimes there is no reason. Everyone blames teeth for every slightly grizzly day , its just a baby being a baby they are wonderful and hard work all at the same time. My son is the same age he almosts crawls and has been sitting since 6 months he has no teeth but no he is not teething but yes he can be grizzly.

My son is the same way. He'll be 7 mo. in a couple days. He doesn't really even like being on his belly very long. He sits pretty well, but still isn't completely independent. I think you just need to be patient and continue to give him plenty of opportunities to learn to crawl and sit. He'll do it when he's ready. I don't really think you need to be concerned yet, since many babies aren't crawling yet at this point. Teeth can take a while to come in too. My son doesn't have those either! Talk to your pediatrician, though, if it really bothers you.

I agree with the "Individual Baby" thing. My son is 7 months this week, and until about 3 weeks ago, he HATED tummy time, he would scream whenever we tried it. But 3 weeks ago, he woke up a new baby. He loves to roll, he "swims" on his tummy all the time with big smiles, he's getting much better at sitting becuase he's finally using his back muscles.
We just had to wait for him to want to do it.
No teeth, very little teething, but I'm not worried about anything, he's perfect!

My daughter sits up and does the "worm" right now but looks like she will be crawling soon. I know that my older two (boys) were 10 months and 9 months before they were crawling. It just depends on the child. Once they started moving they haven't stopped. Enjoy his inability to get into things for as long as it lasts. :)

My son will be 7months next week and he is doing well with sitting up (still flings back when he's tired) and shows no interest in crawling because he HATES being on his tummy, no matter what I try. He is strong and seems to have the coordination but since crawling must be done face down I doubt he ever will, I'm hoping he'll start scooting around on his bum soon.

my daughter has also been teething since she was 3months but no teeth have come out.she will also turn 7months next week.but she has accomplished other milestones, like she can roll over, and she crawls in her own way,it's more like creeping.I discovered that she likes standing so I got her a walker and she is doing really well in it.Just try to focus on his strengths because every child is unique.comparing will just cause you unnecessary grief.I'm sure your son does so many other things really well if you would only pay attention to them.

Gavin just got a tooth a week ago and it is not all the way in.
He hasn't even tried to crawl and honestly that is fine with me!
He can sit on his own, but that also just started. And most of the time he still falls forward!

My 2 year old crawled at 8 months and walked at 10 months. it all changes when they start moving. She had teeth early and was sitting up at 5 1/;2 months. All kids (even from the same 2 parents) are different I guess.

Sounds just like my daughter..... she finally got two bottom teeth in, after teething for several months... she rolls from tummy to back and vice versa... but won't try to crawl and doesn't try to sit up on her own too often. She also pushes her legs and falls backwards.

Your situation is similar to mine and totally normal. My daughter is seven months old, has been teething since about 4 months (out of colic and straight into teething!) but none have popped through yet. She is not crawling yet, but can sit without assistance once placed there. (I often sit her in front of me during play time and she will start off leaning back against me and then will pull herself into a sitting position.) How big is your son? I ask b/c our doctor advised that larger babies often take longer to hit certain milestones b/c obviously it is harder to move their bigger bodies. My daugther (at her six month appt) measured 28 inches long and weighed 18.1 lbs.! Sorry for so much info, but I have worried about this also. Hope this helps.

My daughter is the same age and has no interest in crawling either. She can sit up, she likes to play in her walker, and she will scoot around the floor. My 2 year old was crawling at 5 months, but my sisters lil boy did not crawl until he was 7 or 8 months.

My daughter is 7 1/2 months, and I had the same concerns as you. But within the last week, she popped her first 2 teeth through, and crawled, and now she's all over the place! The thing that got her to crawl was actually our cat (she loves her kitty!) and her daddy making her favorite stuffed animal dance across the room.

All babies are different, and I'll pass along the advice my mom gave me - enjoy her being a baby, and don't rush it because it all goes by too fast as it is!

We all develop at very different rates, no need to worry and try not to compare. (I know that's esier said than done!) As long as your Dr. is confident that your baby is healthy, that is all that matters. I borrowed a book from our Early Years Centre called Games to Play With Baby and it had tons of little age appropriate games to encourage development.

My son turns 7months next week and he is the same, not interested in crawling, its like its too much effort no matter how far away the toys are. But then in the past couple of days he has been getting up on his knees cause my husband has been propping him up on them and putting some support on his stomach to hold him into position and that seems to be working.

Otherwise my son has been sitting up since about 6months old. I was straight on the case as early as 4 months teaching and propping up with pillows so that he could sit for chrissy day

Plus he has been teething since he was 2 1/2 months old and still no teeth, very frustrating. Did you or your partner have trouble with teeth, as i found out i was over a year old when i got my first and my partner had milk teeth, so they could possibly be a couple of reasons.

your son sounds similar to mine. he has just turned 7 months and does not crawl yet and has no teeth even though he has been teething for months! also has flings himself backwards when sitting, but he rolls about a lot, and gets alot of places on his belly, i cant even explain how! you havent said if your son rolls but i wouldnt worry yet, kids do things at different rate and in their own time. i put my son in a bumbo to help him sit, much less likely to hurt himself x

what helped my daughter with sitting was I pout her back against the couch and my legs held her up give her some toys and they slowly she didnt want the couch anymore as support. also a Bobby helps to but I didnt have a bobby. She was sitting up by 5months old. then came her getting in the crawling postion I would put her toys a little far from her so she had to go get them and then she learned how to scoot around to get them lol now at 7months old she crawls everywhere! good luck mommy!

All babies are different. My son is 6 1/2 months and he also started teething at around 3 months, but he did'nt get any teeth until about a week ago. As for rolling and sitting, dont worry until you have a good reason to. Talk to your babys doctor. Relax and enjoy this time because as soon as they learn to do all that stuff you will not know peace and quiet.

My son is 6mo and has two teeth (teething since 3mo) I think teeth are an individual thing, he could get a bunch at the same time. As for sitting , my son sits on his own for a little while so we put pillows behind him. We love the exersaucer. It strengthens his legs and torso. He LOVES it. But he still can't roll from tummy to back. He moves his butt and legs a lot but doesn't really crawl, although he ends up in different positions in his crib. Some babies just move at different rates, but if your really worried, ask your pediatrition.
