Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and make up a bed.
Sew on a button and butter the bread.
Oh where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I've grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
and out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

What an awesome poem!! And if the men don't understand, who cares...we'll have plenty of time to clean when they get too big to be hanging out with Mom :( But for now I take every minute a can with my baby, knowing she's getting big waaay too fast

Mothers fret not!
Even if the dishes don't get done or all the laundry put away (one of my bad habits as I have 7 loads all folded and waiting)
I know that the time I spend kissing and playing with my baby is time spend much better than house work! Tell Daddy it will all get done in good time

AWWWWWWWWWW. SO true. My darling angel is 9 months, and increasingly independent. I miss the days when she would snuggle and sleep on my chest.

I agree, my hubby is very quick to question w/ a certain tone "What did you do today?" It drives me crazy, hurts my feelings and makes me feel somewhat "less than"....I have no doubt what I do daily has much value, even if he might not see it. I LOVE that poem BTW, always have :)
