I would say this is completely normal. My daughter just started clapping. She did wave but has stopped. I believe every baby does things at different paces.

It's completely normal. Babies don't develop the clapping/waving skills until at least 10 months. Emily's almost 11 months and she just started waving normally. No clapping yet. It's fine.

It sounds like your baby is fine. My son just started clapping last week and he has only waved a couple times. However, his doctor says that he is ahead of the milestones. I think it just depends on if your son is doing other things like crawling, sitting up, pulling up on things, ext.

My son doesnt clap and hes 10.5mths, he can bang together 2 blocks though...and he has only just started waving.

Each baby will do it in there own time and if you want him to learn then he is at the age where he will start to mimic, so you just need to wave bye bye to him (saying the words and his name), and after a few times he will try and copy.

Your son is developing just right and on track. If it makes you feel better my 10 month old has yet to clap or wave. I know that it's easy to worry if your baby is not doing what the neighbor's baby is doing but try not to compare your child to someone else's. My 2.5 year old daughter learned to clap at 11 months and wave at about a year. I constantly got "your baby should be able to clap and wave by now"

Sure, I'd worry about it but conciously I knew that she would learn how to wave eventually. My 10 month old is to busy exploring the house and new things that learning how to clap has not been a priority for me to teach her.

Your son is doing just fine... before you know it he'll be waving and clapping 8)

My baby does both but everything I have read says that kids develop within about 3 month periods. I wouldn't worry until he is a year but if you have an appointment coming up for 9 months, ask about it. That's what you are paying the doc for! You can always just call and ask. The nurses are usually pretty helpful with developmental issues!
