I was just wondering if anyone had the same problem with their baby's head. I am pretty worried. Her doctor just mentioned it at her 6 mth appt. She didn't seemed worried, but I am. If you do or did have this problem how long could it take for her head to round all the way out. I don't want her to have to wear a helmet.

My doctor won't even address my concerns on this subject so I am taking him to a new Pediatrician this month. When I first noticed it I brought it up to him and he said that with time it would round itself out and I didn't think too much about it. The first time I held my son up to a mirror while I was holding him I noticed that his face was unsymmetrical. One cheek is chubbier than the other and one ear is more forward than the other. Also one side of his head is slightly higher than the other. His flat spot has been improving slightly but, this new thing worried me. I decided to research it on the net and found loads of info. What worries me is that I think that he has Torticollis also. This is a problem with the neck muscle on one side that causes the neck to want to turn to one side. Torticollis usually only requires physical therapy to stretch and strengthen the neck muscles. I started to think about how he always prefers to look to one side and has since birth. Then I looked at his pictures and you can see it all the way back to the hospital pics. I just want my doctor to take me seriously and listen to my concerns. I would prefer not to have to use a helmet either. But, I have read that if it isn't an extreme case then it might take as little as two months to correct with a helmet. If anyone is interested I found a great website and a great support group on Facebook. I'll post the links....................

Both places have have pictures of children with anywhere from mild to severe cases so you can compare with what your concerns are.

My little boys head is also still a little flat in the back and my doctor is not concerned. She said the majority of babies do not need a helmet, but parents get worried. In reality, it just may take more time. My boy didn't like tummy time either and did the same thing as your baby, but now that he can roll both ways he hangs out on his tummy more and seems to like it. I scatter his toys/stuffed animals all over the family room and he tries to roll to each of them. Don't worry about the head....most babies have this problem and it solves itself over time.

Thanks! Yea I try more tummy time but she has learned to roll from tummy to back so tummy time doesn't usually last too long. It lasts for a bit when I give her a toy to play with, but she gets bored and rolls over to her back. She's always hated tummy time! Hers is improving, but when she was about 2 mths we noticed it and figured that it wld take about the same amt of time to grow on the other side, but nope.

My 7 month old's head is starting to get better, is used to be REALLY crooked! I took him to the doctor, she said He'd be fine, I just worked on more tummy time and was vigilant about his vitamin D drops which I had been forgetting sometimes, after I read they weren't that important. apparently they were! but, since he's been more mobile it's already improved.

My son is 7 months old and his head hasn't rounded out yet. I was also very concerned when I noticed my sons head was a little flat but since the doctor isn't worried I'm not stressing out about it.

Thank you! I'm kinda glad I'm not the only one. I think with my next one I'll make sure to give Him/Her more tummy time. lol
