just wanted to see what others are doing? my son is 10 months old now and he climbs out if his bath seat. i started just putting an inch of water in the bottom of the bath so he can be on his tummy or sit up by himself but he decided he wanted to stand up, slipped and fell bumping his cheek on the edge of the bath. bath time has gone from being a nice relaxing play time to a stressful chore cos i am always worried that he will hurt himself now. i am yet to buy a non slip bath mat.

My daughter is 10 months and we have or tub occupied with a construction project so I've been bathing her in the sink for the last couple months and it actually works really well even though she's so big because i'm standing right in front of her so even if she does try to stand she just topples into me and i than sit her back down. But I find it to be much easier because we have a sprayer to so I can hold that and spray her down :) the only thing is now she started splashing like crazy the last couple times so its a bit messier than it used to be :) But good luck

griselda, like i said he does have a bag full of bath toys but he is advanced for his age so they are boring to him. i have been out today to purchase a bath mat. after he slipped i have had him back in his bath seat and my hubby has been helping to bath him. blake is also very comfortable with the water. he crawls around and rolls around in it. trouble is he gets too excited and thinks he can stand up like a big boy. i bought a new bath toy something different which is recommended for over 12 months. see what bath time tonight brings.

My daughter just did the "stand up and hit cheek" routine this weekend! I was surprised because I was right there but she is so fast and fearless. I have never used a bath seat because she sits so well but she likes to flip on her belly and put her face in the water now. I don't totally love that but my daughter is already a fish! Bathing is more stressful for us now, too. I have found that having 2-3 toys (wash cloths, books, ect) has been REALLY helpful at keeping her a bit more calm.

Before you continue bathing your son in the tub again purchase a non slip mat and while at the store buy bath toys so that he entertains himself. Since there's nothing to attract him to sit and play its naturally that he wants to stand up. Now if you haven't bought the mat by the time you read my respnse you can use a recieving blanket in the mean time... that will help prevent your son from slipping.

My 10 month old daughter has been in the tub since she was 6 months old. Now she bathes with 2.5 year old sister and I fill the tub up to Becca's waist (10 month old). She entertains herself with bath toys and of course her sister, Aly plays with her too. As a matter of fact, she's so comfortable with the water that she crawls in the tub...lol.

thanks guys. he has plenty of bath toys but he is pretty clever and they are boring so i have to get things that move and do exciting stuff or he gets bored. i like the idea of limiting how many times they stand up before its time to get out. might have to try that. will see what i can buy when i get paid so that bath time is more exciting and he will sit still for longer. thanks again xx

my ten month old does the same, when she tries to stand up i tell her "on your bottom" usually she sits back down by her self, sometimes i need to sit her back down, she really enjoys her baths so if she stands up up to 4 times, after the fourth it's time to get out....

I feel for you. I could never get my daughter to stay put in her bath chair or tub or anything like that. She will be 10 months tomorrow. She just enjoys sitting and standing or play swimming and I limit her time, but give her freedom to explore. She loves Bath time. Oh yes Key to getting them to stay sitting LOTS OF BATH TOYS!
