big age gap

My son was born june 11th and my oldest is 9 yrs old now..........but get this my older sister will be 30 this yr and on the same day my little brother (same mom) will be 4!!!!

I love the age gap, i am a lot more chilled this time with Jacob. My daughter is 13 and dotes on him, i think its wonderful.

Well, I didn't have that large of an age gap, but my sister is 8 years older than me & I can't imagine it ANY other way! I love her and we are very close- and have been.. but especially now that I am a mother myself. She and I talk a lot about things. I always looked up to her and she gave me a great example & was a great roll model.. I love her dearly & I know it will be the same for your children!

I agree with Darcel. I had no.3 on 28 June. DD is 13 and DS is 9yrs. I forgot so much and yet I was really relaxed knowing that I've done this before and I can do it. According to Kevin Leman's book "Birth order" a gap of more than 4 years is like the child being a first born so I have 3 "first born" children.

I had my third son June 27th. My other two sons are 5 and 13. The age difference has worked out fine. My oldest is very nurturing and helpful (still can't get him to change a diaper though) my 5 yr old cannot stop saying things like "he is sooo cute" and " isn't he adorable" I feel the age difference has given me a chance to fully enjoy each child in those early years when they needed my undivided attention. Is there a community for "age gaps???

I agree that is feels like we are starting all over again!!!

I thought I was the only one. I have two step-sons 14 and 11. I also have a daughter who will be almost 8 when this baby is born. Now I know I'm not alone.

We are having a baby in June and our daughter is 13 she will be 14 in August, I am worried about the age gap but it is all in God's hands now!

I thought our gap (11 years) was big! This will be our second child (after multiple miscarriages) - and most likely our last because my 40th b-day is next week and my DH turned 40 in October.

Hi! I'm due June 9th and I also have a son who will be turning 20 on June 30th! This definately feels like my first one it's all new again. Amazing technology since then as well as baby items. You got to see the 4D ultrasound it's kind of shocking how much you can see. Good Luck

When my second was born, my first was 7yo.  I agree, it felt like the first baby all over again!  Now, I'm expecting my 4th and my oldest will be almost 13. 

She has been a great help to me, and a really wonderful big sister.  In some ways, the bigger age gap is nice for the older kid because they don't feel that same sense of competion that kids feel when they are closer together and wanting to do the same things, play with the same toys, and get the same amount of attention from Mommy!
