I can't remember exactly when my period returned after my other children (because I wasn't waiting for it) but I know it was towards the end of the first year. So I was wondering if there is an 'average' sort of time a woman's cycle starts up again?
I miscarried a child when my 1st child was 9mths but that was an unexpected pregnancy - I didn't even know I was pregnant. I hadn't had a period yet. I started bleeding & thought that it was my first period since giving birth. It was very heavy & went on for 2 wks before I decided that it wasn't normal. When I went to the Dr's an ultrsound showed I'd had an incomplete miscarriage - the baby was estimated to be 10wks. So I must have become fertile again between 6 & 7 mths post partum. But I know I didn't get a period until later with the next 2 children (they also fed a lot at night & I know that keeps your prolactin levels higher so could account for the later cycle start).
Any way Toby is 8 mths tomorrow & I'd like there to be a much smaller gap between babies this time. Is anyone else hoping to get pregnant again soon? Has anyone's cycle started again?
(A little side-line: my niece had a baby the day before I had Toby & she rang last week to say she's pregnant again - but she didn't breastfeed, so no light to be shed there, just happy that she'll have them close in age like I want :))
