do you have a premature baby?

Keep feeding her solids, my son did the same thing, got a little constipated. it takes a while for thier body to get used to it, and it will be differant than just formula. What are the doctors doing i they are worried? what about a high calorie formula? search the internet, it can be useful. You can also search for activities you can do with her to help her grab her toys etc. She will be small for a while. my son caught up super fast, but my doctor said they dont usually worry until the baby is 2. If she is plateuing i would say just try and feed er more, and pick her favorites for now, if she loves the bottle then giver her more of that and less solids. my son still only gets cereal in the morning and maybe fruit and then veggies in the evening.

ok so docs and teripist says she is underweight and they r a lil concered that she has only grown 6 in since birth so should i worrie . i started her on solids but every time i feed them to her she get stoped up what should i do and she has never slept through tha night u think its ok

Hi Amanda, my little boy also had IUGR. he is a little slow on milestones, it took him longer to do alot of fine motor stuff like grabbing and playing with his toys. But he is sitting already, and loves walking holding on to me. As far as weight goes my doctor sadi as long as he is steady on the curve and not dropping or plateauing then its fine! dont worry!

My son loves oat cereal, but he didnt care much for the rice stuff. and he likes fruits and the orange/yellow veggies. i feed him cereal in the morning and sometimes fruit, and then veggies in the afternoon, and then veggies and fruit in the morning. we just added the lunch time meal. he only eats 6-7 oz 4 times a day. im trying to get him to take 7, and sometimes he will. Chase started gaining a little more when we started solids, so hopefully that will help. By 1 or 2 she should catch up. I wouldn't worry too much now, as long as she is growing, thats what matters, and that shes is happy! cheers to babies who sleep through the night!

Have u tryed her on soilds yet? maybe that might help her gain some weight her health vistior should be advsing u on these things.

our son was born 10 weeks early in june weighing 2lb he now weighs 11lb2 oz and isn't on any of the growth chart centiles but i know he is fine. the paed team are keeping an eye on him

HI my babies were born 8wks early weighing 3and a half pound so good weight for early twins.iwas prescribed cow and gate nutriprem for 6month it has extra cals now they weigh 13lb and 14lb they r slightly smaller than other 6month olds both r very healthy and doin really well one does everything that a 6mth old should be the other will soon catch up!the most frustrating thing with my hv is if i have any slight concern she always says its because they were prem which makes me mad cause its not always the answer

My daughter was born on time, she was 6lb 6oz. Her doctor kept insisting that she was a little overweight, he exasperated me so much I had to switch doctors, and now she is doing just fine. Sometimes its best to trust your instincts because every baby grows at their own pace. It took my daughter 4 months to learn how to use a bottle.

Hi hun i had a babygirl at 36 and half weks she was 5lbs and 9oz, have u tryed ur baby on baby food like the cow and gate jars or baby pasta? if ur baby doesnt enjoy them try making ur own food like mash and vegtables but make sure u blend them first, ur health visitor should be advising u on what 2 give ur baby thats what they are there for. my daughter is on 3 bottles of milk which is 7oz and 3 meals a day aswell, she sometimes has ready brek 4 breakfast then milk for luch has half a jar and then milk dinner time she has a whole jar or pasta with sauce and then a dessert and bed time her last milk. how much milk is ur baby having?

hi can some on help me plz my lil girl was born june 14 she was 4 weeks early she also had iugr and she has only grew 6 in and only weighs 12pds and 11oz she is still only in the 5% of where she should be can't sit up and has only hit a few millstone will some one let me know if i should be worried or not thank

My baby was born on June 13 and was 5 weeks early weighing at 5 lbs 4 oz and 18 in. He is now, at nearly 7 mos 14 lbs 11 oz and 26 3/4 in. He is doing really well and is on track with his milestones(not adjusted!) He is still light but the doctor tells me he is doing great. My pediatrician does not care about percentiles blah blah blah. All she cares about is that my son is progressing at each doctor's visit. Ask you doctor to see the graph to see how your baby is progressing. That is all that matters......that they are getting longer and bigger each visit.

Congrats on ur wee boy i totally agree i had alot of issues with my health visitor about my daughters weight an development but recently she has started trying to stand which she shouldnt be doin yet with the weight its still an issue to them but not me i know she is healthy an i dont agree with every baby being compared as they are all different an wonderful in their way you will probably find that your son can do lots of things he shouldnt be able to an some things he should he cant my daughter wants to stand an can walk a little with help but still waiting on her sittin alone so as i said every baby is different thats what makes them so specail

Hi there congrats on ur wee boy. My daughter is now 13lbs 4oz alittle on the light side but she is still very small length way.  I bottle feed my daughter i use sma an the amount is 8oz every 5 hours 4 bottles a day she sleeps all night so doesnt feed during the night but she has just started takin solids so hoping that will put the weight on
