My baby is getting dry skin around his nose from his runny nose and a rash on his cheek from drooling and sleeping on his side all night in it. It seems to be really painful for him. What are good remedies to clear it up and make it more comfortable for him. I have been putting vasaline on it. Is that good?

Thanks!

I have used the cream you use on your nipples when they are soe from nursing. Losiolin (sp) I figure if they can ingest some fom nursing it will not hurt. Works well

My doc recommended Aquaphor but he said at night before bed to actually use diaper rash cream.

My doc recommended Aquaphor made by Eucerin. It's amazing and clears my sons drool rash and diaper rash up in a matter of hours. I've been using it for years myself after my dermatologist recommended it for my dry lips, and I also use it on my hands when they're really dry. It's amazing stuff, always works.

I am with some of the other moms, Aquaphor and Aveeno lotion have worked wonders for my little girl. I also switched from Johnson's bath wash to Aveeno bath wash and shampoo...made a big difference in her skin! Hope this helps you =)

My little boy gets really dry, chapped skin on his face too. I started just trying to put regular baby lotion onit and it really helped. I have got advice from different moms about using something like vaseline but I just have been using that. There are lots of good ideas on here thjo and the best thing to do is try what u think and use what works best for your baby

Try stuff with minimal chemicals b/c they can upset baby's skin further - plus, their skin is so thin, it really absorbs everything. Our little one gets wind chap on her face if it's breezy and/or cool. As a preventative or as reparative, we use California Baby Calendula lotion or Mrs. Meyer's Baby Blossom Lip and Cheek Balm.

We use Cocoa Buter I always have and my daughter is mixed so she gets dry skin.

I've used chapstick - not the flavored stuff just the stuff with the moisturizer in it plus I don't have to worry about her getting it in her mouth. Works great and applies easily. Aveno bath soap is awesome too - my son has very dry skin and it really helps.

My son has really dry skin on his face so I asked the doctor at his 6 month check up and they said put vasaline or aquaphor on his face. I haven't used vasaline yet but aquaphor and Aveno Baby lotion work good for him.

definately paw paw that stuff is brilliant. Have you tried putting an absorbant cloth under the sheet to soak up the dribble?? That may help obviously it has cover whole mattress to elimate sids factor

Definately not vasaline in my opinion because it is a petroleum based product. Try Lucas' Paw Paw ointment - it's wonderful for just about everything!
