My baby boy just turned 6 months yesterday. I have him on starter baby food and he loves it. Anyways, he does not sleep through the night, i wake up about 2 times a night on average, sometimes even 3 or 4. its crazy!! He WILL NOT eat any rice cereal formula, AT ALL. He hates it. So that is not a option. I feed his a big meal of baby food around 7 and then give him his warm formula around 8ish and he goes to bed between 8 - 8:30pm every night.

Any advice?? I need sleep, haha :)

ok ladies. THANKS SO MUCH!!!! I tried the whole, putting my son to bed early method, last night and IT WORKED. Instead of waking up 2 - 4 times. I put him to bed at 6:30 and he woke up once at 2am, and then didnt wake up until 8pm. Now i hope this continues to work... thanks again ladies :)

My Dane was the same way! what i did was let him cry for 15 mins then pick him up if he didn't fall back asleep. then kept all the lights off and didn't even look into his eyes. don't feed him. babies are smart, they know, they start to expect it. Dane slept through the night before then and one night he woke up crying so i figure he might be hungery....bad idea every night from then on he woke up at the same time!!! so i was told to rock him, but not to interact with him other than that. it has worked so far. sometimes he wakes up crying (i think to test me) but then falls asleep before the 15 mins are up. it took a long time of trying but i finally can sleep!!! be strong the crying will tire him out too.

I agree with the previous post. Try moving his bedtime back. My little guy was up 2-4 times a night then I changed his bedtime and now he sleeps through (most of the time). I usually give him dinner around 5pm, bath around 6pm and nurse him and he's alseep by 7pm waking around 6 or 7am. Have you tried different brand names of rice cereal? Could be a simple thing like that? You know like Coke and Pepsi?

I have tried letting him cry through the night, and still it does not work. He will seriously cry the whole 15 minutes that i let him. And when I go into his room, his eyes full of tears, and i feel soo bad :( He can EASILY put himself to sleep, that how he goes down for the night in the 1st place. He can be awake and i can just place him in his crib and puts himself to sleep. But the problem is... he wont stay asleep. haha!! I'll try the avacado method... we'll see what happens. I think a lot of it has to do with his teething as well. Though i do give him baby motrin and the teething tablets(which i find better than the oragel.).... I just wish he'd sleep through the night. AND the funny thing is, he USED to sleep through the night for about a month..... and all of a sudden he doesnt anymore. Its soo weird.

My little guy just turned 6 months on the 12th and is also getting up 2 and sometimes 3 times a night. Glad I'm not the only one :) We start bath time at 6:30 and put him in the crib by 7pm and he wakes up around midnight & 4am usually then is up for the day around 7. I really don't think it has much to do w/ what you feed them, they just need to learn how to soothe themselves back to sleep. I'm guilty of getting up and feeding him instead of letting him try to cry himself back to sleep or giving him a pacifier and rubbing his belly. Guess its time for mom to toughen up :)

This may sound crazy, but have you tried moving his bed time back? My little boy is the same age, and he eats dinner at 4:45, goes into the tub at 5:45, is in bed by 6:15 and sleeps until about 6:15 the next morning. If he goes to bed later than that, he wakes up.

Also, maybe try avocado? My son can't eat rice cereal, so we feed him avocado to "fill him up" before bed. Just throw some in the food processor. You can freeze it in ice cube trays, and thaw out a couple cubes at a time as needed.
