My baby just turned 4 months old, he was born on June 21/09. I had gained 40 some pounds when I was pregnant and lost 30 the week after he was born, but these last 10 pounds have been so stubborn! Is anyone else in the same boat?

i didn't have that problem at all, after he was born there was a scale in the hospital, i weighed what i did before i was preg, then in 4 months after i lost another 10. He's 5 months on the 29th. we only breastfed for 2.5 months (he wasn't getting enough) it's strange, the nurses told me that breastfeeding would help me return to normal shape, but both of us did much better with him on the bottle. I'm afraid my streach marks are here to stay though :)

It practically all melted off the first couple of weeks! I did not even notice! I am starting to take her out walking an dhopefully that will help!

I am having the same problem with the last 10 lbs. I have never tried it but I'd definitely recommend weight watchers. My mom and sister both have had GREAT success with that program. You just need to be able to stick to it. Also, I've been kind of curious about acai berry. If anybody watches Oprah, Dr. Oz actually recommends it and I've read good reviews about it.

I was 109lbs size 3 before I got preg. I gained about 45lbs and got upto size 11-12. Elizabeth is 5.5mos old and Ive been maintaing 120lbs, size 6-7. I would like to fit into 3s again but my hips and thighs wont allow it.

I gained 50 when I was pregnant.. I had lost 20 by the time my daughter was 2 weeks old when I was breastfeeding, but it didn't work out. I gained 10 back when I stopped and haven't lost anymore since. She is 4 months old now. I have tried exercising, dieting, diet pills.. Everything. Nothing has worked. But I had trouble gaining/losing before I got pregnant. I always stayed the same weight. So I guess I'll get used to it. =)

Luckily, I do not have the reflux problem. My little one has been sleeping thru the night since she was 5 weeks old. However, I actually did try to put myself on a diet while breastfeeding in hopes to lose some weight and the end result was mood swings, headaches, an empty stomach, and a reduction in my milk supply, so I pretty much said forget the diet until I stop nursing.

I gained 30 lbs and have lost 20. Like you, I lost it all right away and haven't made any progress with the last 10. Am breastfeeding so I feel awful if I reduce the calories I take in and am too tired to exercise because my little one has reflux and is teething and wakes me up every 1.5-2 hrs at night. : (

I gained 35 pounds this second pregnancy and I have only lost 12 of the 35, and I am breastfeeding. I literally cannot lose another pound and it is so frustrating! I had the same problem with my first daughter. For some reason, my body holds on to the fat while I am breastfeeding, and then it falls off when I quit. I am a stay at home mom and have a 3 year old also, so not much time to work out. I try to eat good, but I am so hungry all the time and I also have TONS of milk. Oh well, guess those skinny jeans will have to wait until I stop nursing!

I gained 30kg when I was pregnant, my daughter was born on the 16th June and I am now down to my pre pregnancy weight. I am breastfeeding so didn't want to alter my diet, but I just try to get out for a walk with my little one every second day at least

When I was pregnant I was so sick the entire time that I only gained 5 pounds. Since giving birth I have been breastfeeding and eating a lot less (just don't seem to be as hungry) and now I am down 10 lbs from where I was at before pregnancy. Every women is different, and I am sure my second pregnany will be much harder.

There are so many things that effect weight. For one, I was 15lbs overweight when I got pregnant, so my dr really stressed eating healthy and not adding too many empty calories. I needed to loose the weight. Second, sleep is very important in weight loss, so those long nights of loving your baby make it just a little harder. Also stress can pack on pounds too.

My suggestion is to eat healthy and take care of your body. You are a mommy now so your baby is your top priority, as long as you are healthy and not stressing the rest will fall into place with time.

Good luck!

I think a lot of it depends on your genes... and of course eating healthy, exercise etc... but I've always heard the saying 9 months on, 9 months off- it can take a while to lose it all!

I was 108 pre-pregnancy, gained about 20 lbs and lost all but 4 lbs (I lucked out and it was all baby). I don't care because you can't tell, and I'm pretty sure my body's hanging on to those few extra lbs because I'm nursing. I'm way hungrier than normal so I eat more. I've been exercising too but I think that just makes me hungrier!

My son was born June 18, 2009. I gained 35 lbs and I've lost all of it. I weight the same as I did when I first found out I was pregnant, but now all of my clothes fit me differently. I guess that I have those women hips. It's great eh...

I gained about 30-35 lbs during pregnancy and I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but definitely not back to the same fitness level or body shape as before (I ran a marathon the month before I got pregnant). I haven't been able to exercise much at all so far due to a really long recovery from a difficult birth. I'm breastfeeding, which I think makes all the difference with losing the weight. Like everyone else, I'm looking forward to finding my abs again! I know they're under there somewhere... :)

Yeah well my baby was born 6/21 as well, I gained 45lbs and the only weight I lost was 20lbs after the first three days. I haven't lost any since. I don't have the money to eat healthy. It just costs too much. And also I'm on the depo birth control shot and that increases your appetitte so its really hard to lose any weight when all you want to do is eat, and then you can't even afford to eat the healthy stuff. But I'm not worrying about too much. I feel fine. I'll work on it when we get more money.

I have the exact same problem! My daughter was born 6/24 and I can't shake the last ten lbs of belly/butt fat! With my first pregnancy, it melted off! I've been doing squats/lunges and I tried joining the gym but I don't have time to go! I wish I had some advice for you, but all I can say is you are not alone!

I lost all of mine.. Have you tried a change in diet or exercise? If you are too in routine with your work out it has less effect..
