My 9 month old has 2 x 150ml formula for the day, I still breastfeed at night. She has 3 meals for the day and a snack-yogurt, biscuit late afternoon and her supper at night. she also drinks water and juice, was worrried that she is having to little formula.

Reading the replies, wondering what I'm doing wrong, my second daughter is just nine months, and has maybe 1oz with baby porridge for breakfast, 1oz with pureed fresh veg for lunch, and 1oz with pureed chicken veg & potatoes for tea, plus may 3oz at bedtime and may take 6oz at about 2am. just totalling that up and its only 12oz, she won't take water from either bottle or sippy cup, and we always offer 6oz bottles each time. should we be concerned?

I just switched my 9 month old to formula also! She will only drink about 10 to 12oz a day! strictly Breastfed babies are not used to that much fl oz a day! This is my 4th baby and they have all been the same way once I did the switch at 9 or 10months! So many people drove me nuts saying they weren't drinking enough formula!!! They are all healthy :)

My son led us into his schedule, he is such an easy baby. He wakes at 7am and has 7oz of formula, cereal and half a banana at 9am, a nice big lunch at 12-1pm (lots of carbs, protein and veg), 5oz of formula about 3pm, yoghurt and fruit at 4-5pm, then bedtime bottle of 7oz formula at 7pm. During the day he drinks about 5oz of diluted fruit juice. x

I just took my baby to the doctor and he said that they should be getting atleast 16oz a day. It might be that your baby doesn't like the formula as much as the breastmilk. I think as long as she is gaining weight and having lots of wet diapers she is okay. She will eat if she is hungry. Try giving her juice too. My baby drinks about 4oz of juice a day either after lunch or dinner. If your really worried call her doctor and he/she should be able to give you good advice.

My son's on about 800mls a day, one about an hour after his main meals for nap time and one before bed/if he wakes in the night. Very occasionally he'll have some baby juice with dinner at the weekend but other than that he's happy enough and doesn't want any drinks between times.

I don't know what the "norm" is but my 9 mo's schedule is a 6 oz bottle at 8 am, noon, 3, 6, and 9 pm for a total of 30 oz/day of formula. She also has small meals after her bottles at every feeding (breakfast - fruit, dinner - veggies/meat, snack - cereal or fruit, supper - veggies/meat) She doesn't have any solid food after her 9pm bottle. However, she always eats after she wakes up, and never right before she goes to sleep. She naps for around an hour in the morning, either two short or one long nap in the afternoon, and between 7:30 and 9.
Our schedule is not what they tell me a 9 month old should eb doing but it works really well for us! So if you have a schedule that works well for you go for it. I don't think there is a normal with babies lol

Hi Patricia, for a 9 month old they should be having around 600mls of milk (I think that's about 20-21oz) preferably in 3-4 bottles but only if they are getting the rest of their dietary requirements from food. Some babies have more food than milk and others more milk than food - it usually balances out after they turn 1. Our schedule has just changed to:
7am bottle 210mls (7oz)
8am breakfast (usually with cows milk) and water
10:30 morning tea and water
12-12:30 lunch and water
2-2:30 bottle 210mls (7oz)
5pm snack if awake and water
6:30 dinner and water
8-8:30 milk 210mlz (7oz)
My little one will only take water out of a straw sippy cup as he hasn't figured out how to hold the other cups up. He usually has about 100mls (3-4oz) of water throughout the day - more if it is a hot day.
my daughter will be 9 months next week, and she eats at least 5, sometimes 6 6-oz bottles per day, and has about 3-4 meals and snacks in between. i give her juice out of her sippy cup, and she loves it but if she drinks too much juice she gets sick. but im pretty sure you're supposed to give them formula on demand until theyre a year old?

my daughter drinks 3 6 oz. bottles a day. But she also eats baby food 3 times a day and has about 4-5 ozs. of juice and gerber graduates snacks between meals. I have a similac chart that says a 9 month old should have 21 oz of formula a day broken down into 3 feedings but it's hard getting her to drink that much so she usually only gets about 18 a day.

My daughter will be 9 mos soon. She currently gets 3 food meals a day and 4 6 oz bottles of milk We do offer her water in a sippy cup sometimes at night around dinner time and before her finally bottle for the night. We are doing this to get her used to the transition from a bottle to a sippy cup. I don't think children need the sugar in juice until they are over one, if possible.

my daughter is going to be 9 months old on the 15th, and she drinks about 6 oz of formula about every 4 or 5 hours. I feed her baby food 3 times a day. But formula is really the only liquid she will drink. She doesn't like any of the baby juice.
