My daughter is almost 13 months old now and she gets so excited when I read her books to her. After only ready a book once or twice she can point to the right animals that I ask her to, or the right colors and she is so excited about it!!

My daughter is addicted to books! I mean every book she sees is a book that I HAVE to read to her. We can read one book six times in a row before she grows tired of it. The other night I was in the middle of a conversation when she came to me with a book and I wanted to finish so I just pretended to read her book by speaking in a reading pattern and turning pages appropriately. She closed the book and looked up at me quizzically as if she was saying "what are you reading? Because it's not THIS story!" LOL love her !

This is awesome! My 14 month old son also loves to read books. He will bring me one and then turn and plop himself down on my lap. He loses interest towards the end and picks out another one before the story is finished. That is awesome that your 13 month old can already point out colors and animals! My 14 month old isnt doing that, i just point out animals and such. How did you get her to start doing that?

My daughter will bring me books and point at the pictures and say "dis?" And I have to tell her what everything is. That only lasts a couple minutes then she takes off to something else. Most of her board books are missing the corners because she has chewed them off.

Alex loves books - he got more than a dozen for his bday last month. For the past 2 months he'll sit for 45 minutes while you read to him. He's got his favorites, if you start reading and it's not the one he wants he'll get up out of my lap and grab another until it's the 'right' one..but we'll read up to 7 books and some twice. His fav right now is Brown Bear Brown Bear What do you See? We also have the Panda Bear version. His second fav is Ten Little Ladybugs. I love it. It's great to hear that so many other parents have curious tots.

Amanda : Tristan likes snacking on his board books too, and will only let me read regular paper books to him for bedtime lol

My 13 month old does too! Thankfully! My first two children so far are not really readers. But Kinley brings me books all the time with a huge cute smile on her face. Or sometimes I'll sit on the floor and open up a book and pretend to be silently reading and as soon as she notices she darts over and climbs on my lap. It's hilarious and so so cute!

Mine loves to read too. Her favorites are a baby animals one and a baby's feelings one.

My son also loves his books! In our living room, amung all of his toys, we have a seperate box all of board books. Now, he can not read them himself yet, but he will sit and thumb through the pages checking out the picrtures though. Then sometimes he will bring me a book, and we will either read it or check out the pictures together. BIG SMILES! At night we always read about 3 books and end with the same Good Night Book so he knows the routine and know's it's time for bed! Seems to work for us! I hope this means he'll be a reader in his future!!!!!

My son will sit at bedtime very patiently & attentively while Daddy reads him his story... as long as it's not a board book - those he seems to think are for snacking on!
