im right there with her i dont like water... try squeezing lemons in it or limes just to help with the flavor and you could try just giving it to her while she eats. if i have an empty tummy then the water shushes around and makes me feel sick.

I understand. I was commenting for the person who posted this to let her know it is not required that she drink more water!! No water is needed, if she will drink it thats fine as long as she is getting enough formula and breastmilk. but there is no need to worry if she doesnt drink it!!

Samara, I am in Australia, and its is around 35 degrees plus where

i live. There are a lot of divided opinions on this topic however. My daughter is BF and even though she consumes a lot of water she still BF 6 - 7 times daily. My GP, CHN and Paed all said it is great she is drinking water like she is. As I said in my previous post, as long as it does not interfere with feeds it is okay and as long as they continue to gain weight and are healthy its fine.

Your baby does not need to drink water. They do not recommend giving water to babies anymore until a year old. It is not necessary! No need to worry. Coming from a nurse's perspective, as long as she is consuming enough formula no water is needed! Your daughter should be drinking 24-32 ounces of formula or breastmilk a day. Sometimes water will interfere with formula intake and then babies will not get the right amount of nutrition needed!

Just keep persevering. Offer it as much as possible without it interfering with your LO's feeds. I give it to my daughter (in a sippy cup with a straw) at all her meals and snacks and as soon as she wakes. She loves it and drinks up to 500 - 600 mls per day. It is a completely new taste and consistency for your LO so just like anything new it will take a while for your baby to get used to it. I don't really think adding juice to it is going to be beneficial. While your baby may start drinking the mix, it kind of defeats the purpose of getting used to the water.

maybe you could try and put a little bit of apple juice in the water to help with the flavor and you could slowly decrease the amount so she gets use to the taste of the water. I hope that helps.
