Well my 7th month old cant crawl and has not even begun to roll over, he just sways from side to side. He hasn't quite mastered the sit yet either but is working on it. He can however scoot on his back he is a scooter. He also has 6 teeth. what is up with that?

Hi, my boy turned 7 mths on the 14th also n he will do the tripod sitting like your son is doing and he would also sit the regular way but I always make sure Im behind him or a pillow is behind and beside him b/c he will still tip over after a short while. We as parents get so excited about their milestones but he will do those things before you know it...lol He's not crawling yet but is starting to get in that position. Your baby is progressing just fine but you can practice with them everyday to help them along.

My son is also 7 months - he is just starting to sit up- but week to week- he is getting strong- just keep encouraging him- the best thing you can do is play at his level- sit behind him so he can lean again you- or put a bobby pillow behind/around him- and put some toys he likes just in front of him- mine also in a walker and can push backwards- so funny. Also in his saucer he can stand (when it is on the lowest setting) but don't think he realize what he is doing- after about 10 min he is tired or bored- and we change it up. Just love your child and interact - that the best support you can give.

My son will be 7 months old on 1/25 and isn't able to sit up yet. And, he hates the Bumbo seat! He likes to play on his tummy.

My little girl is 7 mos. now, and still doesn't sit up steadily on her own, not for long periods, anyways, and she has only rolled across the room once. She is more than happy to lay on her back to play, or roll over onto her tummy, but she has no upper body strength to crawl. Her legs, however are very strong and she wants to walk already. She can stand up (with me supporting her) quite steady and starts walking by her own power, I don't push her to do it.I was worried for a bit too that she was falling behind, but I'm not gonna worry about it anymore. I know that she will get stronger and eventually do it on her own. She was a small baby when she was born, so I'm thinking that may be part of the reason. My friend's 3 month old girl is starting to crawl, but she was over 8 lbs. when she was born, and is now around the same size as my 7 month old. As long as my baby is happy and healthy, I'm not gonna push her to do stuff, I know eventually she'll figure it out.

My little man will be 7 months on Jan 25th and is still not sitting up either. He shows no interest and is not crawling yet. You cannot make them do it, you just have to let them do it on their own when they are ready. My father is a pediatrician and show no worry. He says he will do it, just give him time. So don't worry our little men will do all they are supposed to when they feel like it!!

don't worry... my twins are the same. They are nearly there... just need practice which is what it sounds like with your little guy too. My daughter was about the same at the same age. Try propping him up in a washing basket for short periods of time

Mine will sit but still falls over occassionally. I just use the boppy pillow to help him. He moreso likes to roll around the room and scoot.

He is also 5 weeks early so I'm not to concerned....actually, I'm not concerned at all because he will do it "consistantly" with practice.

My daughter just turned 7 months and has been using the Bumbo (a GREAT investment) since she was about 4 months. However, she only just started sitting on her own without any support over the past couple weeks.. she's still not quite stable enough to be able to plunk her down and leave her, as she still topples over occasional. To aid her, I mainly just sat behind her on the floor with my legs spead and her in between up close to me..(facing away) This enabled her to be able to reach about for her toys, but my legs were kind of a support for her.. making her feel safe and learn to be able to "catch herself" if she starts to lean too far. Progressing every day :-)

My son started sitting up by himself at 5 months, but the other kids in my mothers group who are around the same age (7 months) are just starting to sit up now, so don't worry all kids develop at different rates. One day he'll just do it by himself, but make sure you keep pillows etc behind him in case he falls backwards.. Good luck!

I just got my daughter, born June 12, a bumbo... we'll see if it'll help her sitting. She seems to really like it too!

I have the opposite issue! My daughter turned 7 months on January 15th and she can sit unassisted now. She started on December 28th with sitting strong for a couple minutes and now I can leave her for long periods of time. She falls over when reaching for toys sometimes but she is starting to catch herself now which is great! The Bumbo and Boppy were really helpful to her when she was learning to sit up. We just had her our grocery shopping in the cart last night for the first time...sitting all by herself in the shopping cart was so exciting for her! As for being on her belly and trying to crawl...she doesn't do much of that. She is wiggling around in her crib but when on the floor she gets frustrated and won't always try to wove around too much. She can spin around on her belly but isn't creeping yet. Best of luck and keep working on his sitting!

My seven month old isn't sitting up or crawling yet either. She moves around the room by rolling or scooting on her tummy.

My son turned 7 months old on the 2nd of Jan and is sitting up. Yeah he leans forward but thats only if he wants to get something or lay on his stomach. So all babies will sit up when they are ready to. No worries your baby will get the hang of sitting up soon.

my little girl who is 6 yrs now, but wen she was a baby she didnt sit till she was 7 mths old but once she learnt that she done everything straight after so i wouldnt worry my little boy was sitting at 5 mths on his own but he to used to hold on to his legs to suport him self and hunch over too so its just them geting the stength try sitting behind him for at least half an hr a day to help him. thats what i did and it worked cheaper than buying the equipment lol x

You should get him a bumpo chair. It helps straighten their neck. It worked for my son he was sitting up by himself at 5 months.

Mine will b 7 mths on the 18th but he does the same thing. I invested in the Bumbo seat and also have a boppy pillow...he gets better everyday!

Mine turned 7 on the 4th. It's just this week that he mastered it enough for me to leave the room. He was at your boy's stage around Xmas. My SIL tole me about this toy: Fisher-Price Little Superstar Sing-Along Stage. It helps to prop them up so theyr'e not folding forward. Both her kids learned how to sit with it, including her daughter at 5 1/2 month. Once we got it Sean learned how to as well. We got it off of Craigslist for $20 and found it at the local consignment shop for $8 afterwards. Worth the $$$

I have a almost 7 month old and also just recently worked in a nursery at a daycare. My little boy was able to sit up on his own a little after 5 months, but I also see some babies at the daycare who are 7 months old and are just now starting to try to sit up... don't worry all babies develop differently and at different paces...eventually they all catch up to one another most of the time! :) However, everyone's suggestion of sitting him up in a boppy pillow is a very good one. It really helps them out!

Keep at it. You can get a boppy pillow or something like that, but what I did with my son is to keep putting him in the sitting position. I can know sit him on the floor, yes he still falls over once in a while but that is more when he wants to move and in the beginning I would sit behind him. Eventually he didn't want to feel my legs or arms behind him.

Try getting him a bobby pillow and sittin him up in it it will help support his back but will strengthen his back muscles as well. Also just keep sittin him up and he will get it. I did that with my daughter and after about a week she was able to sit up on her own without croching over. I kno it's not much but atleast its something be patient and keep tryin. Good Luck!
