Sippy cup and juice help please!

I have begun trying the sippy cup with my son and its not working at all. First I tried the gerber cups and they didnt work. So then I tried the nuby and munchkin cups that have the silcone spout similar to the bottle, but still nothing. Any ideas of how to get him to try it more? He'll hold and swing it around, but no drinking or even chewing on the spout.



As for juice he doesnt seem like he is the biggest fan. I have tried all berry juice and now apple and he will drink it out of a bottle but not the way he sucks down his formula. Does anyone have any tips?

My daughter started drinking from normal glasses when she was one year old, so why bother with drinking cups? In my experience they don't help at all, they are just odd shaped drinking bottles.. your baby won't learn how high he can lift it, how much he can gulp down, etc. My seven-month-old loves to drink from glasses too, so I just let him!

My son only likes to drink out of a regular cup so far, and plays with the sippy cup. My daughter would never drink juice or even milk, only water, until she was over 2. It sounds like he's either not ready or doesn't like juice. Maybe just give it some time or try water... Good luck!

Babies don't need juice it's just a novelty so if they are interested I wouldn't push it. Just offer fruit. As for the sippy cup issue, I wouldn't push it either she's just not ready, just keep offering and one day she'll get it. Also, if she's not interested in juice there isn't much insentive for her to use the cup.

I agree with them. no rush........ both of my daughters didnt start liking the sippy until 10 months. they loved the nuby cups. dont forget to water that juice down girl, lol. good luck.

There is really no rush to start juice unless your little one is not getting enough fruit or is having trouble going to the bathroom. Learning to hold and use a cup is a combination of fine and large motor skills. If you are really eager to get him going try these tips: 1. Only fill the cup about half way so it isn't too heavy. 2. Use a cup with a top similar to his bottles and with handles for easy grasp. 3. Try to serve his juice at room temperature. Sometimes the cold juice is a put off.

My daughter does the same exact thing. And I would get real frustrated because she would also swing around and hove no interest on sucking on it. I just think they are not ready. She is doing everything else at a very advanced rate, so I figure when she gets a little older, she will have more interest and get the concept..
