Well see I just started putting my guy in his crib about a week ago full time... I put him in there before but I wasn't ready! He was and is the same way.. so what I do is put him in there and sit or lay down on the floor next to the crib and let him play or do whatever it is he wants. He may whine a little and if he does I talk to him and put my hand in through the crib so he knows I am there. The 1st night I was in there 30 minutes before he finally went to sleep and then the next was only 15 minutes.... I am NOT a cry it out person!! I hope that we get to the point that he will just lay down but I am ok with being in there until he does! I do have his crib on the lowest level because he has climbed out before. Good Luck and I hope this helps!

Glad to know I'm not alone! I take her out and let her crawl/walk around her room or give her the rest of her milk, usually works but not always lol...I'm going to lower it because I'm scared she will try and climb out as shes already going on tip-toes and trying pull herself up.

Have you lowered her crib mattress yet? We had to lower Kota's because he started standing up and trying to climb out!
He stands up when I lay him down to go to sleep too. Sometimes, if he lets me (haha), i'll sing to him and rock him to sleep and then lay him in his crib. If he's not into that, then i'll put him in his bed with some toys so he can play till he falls asleep.

My daughter has been doing this since she was 7 months old. I had to start rocking her to sleep, or she would never sleep! She would just stand there for hours and hours if I let her. We tried the play pen and she does the same thing. As soon as i would lay her down, id turn around and there she was standing there looking at me. She hasnt figured out how to climb out yet, the railings on both are too high for her to get her leg up on but soon she will be doing it and I have no idea what to do with her then! I dont see how a crib tent would work, if she is going to climb up and over, the tent part is just going to go with her and then she will get tangled up in it. I am a nurse and we had a toddler do that in the hospital. The mother left and didnt tell anyone, he had an oxygen tent on his bed (same thing almost) and he climbed out, fell to the ground and he was inside the tent trying to get out!!! Scary!!

My youngest son is almost 11 months old and has been standing up in his crib or play pen for about a month now and we found that putting a crib tent over the top is the safest way. and they make them for the playpens also. Hope this helps.

Tristan's the SAME way!! oh my god. i dont have any advice, but i'm glad i'm not alone in this, and you arent either. we just took him out of the crib and put him in a play pen for sleeping. it's more stable and lower to the ground (and harder to climb out of since there's no stable foot-holds), so if he DOES climb out of it (which he's been trying to do), he wont have far to fall. we put his crib mattress next to it just in case he climbed out to he wont hurt himself. other than that, i have no real advice.
