Still eating every 3 hours? (BFing)

my twins have jus hit 4mnths and since they were 3 mnths or younga eat 3-4hrs during the day not on solids yet but having 200ml bottles, than sleep completely through the night also fittin 6-9 month clothing and spill alot. so i really think it depends on the child, im very lucky to have them sleep from 7pm to 7am.

My daughter is being feed every 3 hours and sleeps during the night its important that if they wake up during the night when they are old enough say3 months onward that when they wake up for something to eat during the night usualy about 1 or 2am not to feed them otherwise they get into the routine of waking up at that time every night. My daughter was a big girl from birth 9lbz 7oz! so she eats alot bottle feed and solid food fed. as long as shes full when she goes to sleep then shes fine.

My daughter was born on June 26th and during the day she is still eating about every 3 hours but at night she sleeps for about 8 horus without waking up. From about 10pm until 6 am. I give her a pacifier and she is content with that. She has gained plenty of weight as well. She weighed 8lbs 2 ozs at birth and was up to 14lbs 6 ozs today! Good luck everyone!

My son is the same way. he'll eat anywhere from every 1-3 hrs. usually around 2 during the day. He's aslo in 6-9 month clothes. at night he'll sleep anywhere from 5-10 hrs at a time. just whenever he feels like eating i feed him. sometimes it feels like that's all i'm doing'

My 14 week old still eats about every 1.5 to 2 hours during the day. If I'm lucky he will sleep for 4-5 hours at night, though after the first time he wakes up I bring him into bed with me and he will nurse on and off for the rest of the night.

my son is also still eating every 3 hours or so, somettimes every two hours. babies go through a growth spurt around this time. dont get frustrated and switch to formula! you are doing the best thing possible for your little one, its worth the hassle!

My son is 12 weeks and is taking 5oz of formula every 2 1/2- 4hrs during the day just depends on his mood. I try to let him wait at least 3hrs before his next feeding so he gets into a routine I can manage. He does sometimes fall asleep 30mins before his feeding so I just let him sleep and prepare for him to wake up ready to eat. I guess I'm really lucky cause my son slept 6-8hrs by 6 weeks and now is asleep by 7pm and can go as long as 8am before he wants me to pick him up and feed him.

Well i was starting to feel encouraged for a while with only getting up once during the night to feed however she has just started waking up and wanting a second feed again. Also she has gone from taking 150mls to only 120mls each feed now and that is if she will take that much so i feel for other mums going through the same or similar.



My question is though my bub has started to move around alot now and especially during sleep and i think she is waking herself up due to hitting the side of the cot, can anyone help with any ideas to assist with keeping her more settled in sleep?

my son eats about every three hours during the day, but sleeps all night trough since he was only 6 weeks old. he gets his last feed at about ten o'clock (most of the time, it is a 'dreamfeed', since he is allready asleep before I start feeding him), and than he sleeps untill 7 in the morning. even than he is not too hungry yet, as he is very playfull and happy in the morning. I realise this is a bliss, and not usual at all. for those wondering: I breastfeed him, and he gets only one breast at every feeding. that way he eats a lot of the 'backmilk', the milk that is fatty and nutricious, and only comes after the baby has sucked for a few minutes. at night, I wrap him in, so he is very cosy and can't move. he likes it a lot, and it might be an idea for the moms who want to get some more sleep! good luck!

Yup my son is exactly the same way and the dr said it was fine....Sometimes he'll just nurse for three or four mins then wants to suckle and stare at me....it's cute! my son is wearing 6 month clothes as well thank god for hand me downs from good friends I had three pamper boxes full of clothes plus three garbage bags from girls at work!!!!

you might want to check if your breastmilk is too thin, if it's too thin it's not sticking to the baby's stomach.

My son is doing the same thing! Since we're feeding on demand it really depends on when HE wants to eat. Sometimes it's every 2 hours, sometimes it's 6 at night if he sleeps that long! Be encouraged that you are doing such a great job growing your baby! My baby has almost doubled his birth weight and he's 10 wks today. =)

My daughter is 10.5 weeks old and she eats every 1-2 hours during the day, and 3-4 hours at night. The late afternoon/early evening time is when your milk supply is at its lowest, and is usually when baby is most fussy. I'm just thankful I don't have to supplement anymore, so if she wanted to eat every 2 hours around the clock, I'd gladly do it.



But I am so jealous of you guys who get 5-6+ hours of sleep at night! I can't wait for that. My oldest didn't sleep through the night until she was 8 months old...

My daughter is 9 weeks old and is mostly eating every 2 and half hours and that is 5 oz of formula and I nurse at least twice through out the day. At night she will go 4-6 hours without waking. I thought she was eating a lot but our doctor says if she is hungry then feed her. He said she will let me know if she's full or hungry.

my baby was born 2nd of june and still feeds every 3 hours!! sometimes less!!! hes above average weight too and takes 8 ounces a time!!! but sleeps through the night from 10pm to 7 am ( since 6 and half weeks!!) so cant complain. x

My daughter has been eating (breastfeeding) every 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours but only 5 min each side. She is growing very much as well she is 11 lbs 10 oz at 10 weeks. At night she sleeps from 11:30 -4 and then 4-7 or 8 thats good for me.

Yeah, every baby is different. They are hungrier at some feedings than others. Be blessed that they are. I know what has given me a break to do a few errands is let someone else feed her a bottle, and pump when time is due. The breastfeeding class I went to, the instructors say dont worry, its normal for them to wake often at night, I would worry if they werent.

My daughter is 10 weeks and she still eating every 3 to 4 hours and at night time, some days she will go from 11 to 5, but for some reason lately she went back to every 4 hours.Am thinking that maybe is the weather. Yes she is having some spit up, but not all the time. I want her to sleep all night, more now that I just went back to work and have a 5 year old at home that hasnt started school......help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can tell you that every kid is different being mother of four. My first and second child whould it every 3-4hours and I had to wake them up durring the day and were gaining weight slow. My 3rd was asking to be fed every 3hours himself and now my youngest requesting to be fed every 2hours, it seems that he is gaining every second. I know it very draining but we need to be thankful that they are eating. its tougher when they are not.

Mine is 8 weeks and is still on this same exact schedule...same thing at night too and also very very little spit up . She is gaining above the avg 7 oz a week and is about 11.5 pounds now. I too am wondering when I will get a break???
