Hey! My 11 month old is still not eating any food that is chunky. He does the gaging reflex and eventually everything that he ate will come all back up! We've tried to introduce plenty of different foods for his age group...like baby cookies, cheerios, soft pancakes but nothing will stay down! I've asked my doctor and she said it was normal and eventually he will start to get use to the food. Please let me know what I should do or try! Thanx

i know how you feel, except my daughter is 18mths old and still eats jarred baby food about 80% of the time. She is very picky with table foods, and rarely is interested in any of it. Only thing she loves is french fries, chicken(somedays), hamburger meatballs, pepperoni and muchroom pizza. I offer her whatever we are eating and if she doesnt eat anyone or barely any, i top her off with the jarred foods. at first i was worried she wasn't getting the proper nutrition, but her dr. reassured me that those foods are perfectly healthy and she is still getting the nurtrition she needs and she will transition to table foods 100% of the time when she is ready, and to just keep offering it to her, so she knows its there. She is 27lbs and 33in, so definately not starving. I'm not worried about it anymore, yes its a pain in the butt somedays, but at least she is eating something and is growing healthy. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that she didn't get any teeth until just after her 1st birthday, so the whole chewing thing took her awhile and she is still learning, she has 12 teeth now. Also we started her on baby cereal @ 5mths and she did really good with that, we tried starting her on fruit @ 6mths and she hated it, finally around 7mths she started eating fruit regularily, and didn't eat veggies at ALL until she was closer to 9mths, and even then she was very picky. Around 11mths she finally started to eat pretty much any veggie and all fruits. it just takes time for them to adjust, and as long as they are eating something and growing good, i say don't sweat about it too much. it will happen when they are good and ready. it's not like you've ever seen a 4yr old still eating baby food, eventually they will grow out of it.

My girls are 13mths old and are the same way! I am also told, "when they are ready..." They are good eaters of pureed foods, toast, grilled cheese, peanut butter sandwiches... but gag on anything chunky like steamed veggies, pieces of chicken...I don't understand it, but doctor says they are healthy...and eventually they will eat it all...

I'm in the same boat as you! I'm just trying to be patient. The pediatrician says they'll eventually grow out of it!
