still not walking

i know babies that started to walk b4 a year old and i started to worry as my daughter is 13 months old but wen i started talking to more mums about it i realise my daughter will do it when she feels ready...she did try just before she were 12 months with a walker but she fell and i think it scared her a little as she wouldnt use the walker afterwards but just yesterday she took her first proper steps and is now walking halfway across my front room...i must say i'm happy but also a little sad as she wud rather walk then have cuddles with mummy..hehe.cherish the days u have left cos once they start walking u will miss out on all them lovely cuddles

Dont rush it...once they start walking its over from there ! My son is 13 mths and just started walking about two weeks ago...now we are always on the go....Each child will walk when he/she is ready till then...just enjoy it

i have a daughter that is almost 14 months old and she still isnt walking yet she does cruise round furniture and walks holding hands, my older two children were 18 months and 22 months before they walked i myself walked at 15 months so dont worry about what your little one is doing he will walk soon enough i know it can be a bit frustrating waiting for him/her to walk but he will be walking soon hun, all babies walk at different ages some even start off running before they walk.

my daughter is 13 mounths and she walks around things but she doesnt want to walk on her own or have me help her she has a tantrum if i try and i get so scared that she wont ever walk and i just had a lil boy and im scared he will do the same will my lil girl ever walk !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eve - do we have the same baby??? It's so hard to find other exclusive bum scooters. My daughter is a little over 13 months and just this week started to stand up while holding my hands. But boy can she move on her bum! As fast or faster than any crawler.

It sounds normal to me. My friend's son is 14 months and isn't really walking. On the other hand, my son is the same age and has been walking since 10 months, he is now running well. At the other one's birthday party it was refreshing because I got to cuddle and she got to chase him around. It's only cute for a while! :) Cherish the cuddle time while you can!

My 13 month old is not walking and hasn't showed any interest either. She doesn't crawl just flies around on her bum lol! She is not standing yet either, but I'm not worried her older sister was the same and all of a sudden at 17 months started taking her first steps. All get there in their own time :)

my son has now started taking those little steps on his own now he gets excited an falls which he finds so funny i think its cute when they start walking but he still likes to crawl its quicker for him

My son isn't walking by himself either, yet. He's finally starting to take steps on his own, but he's still wobbly. I agree with Bridget - boys tend to do things later than girls. Don't worry - your son will start walking before you know it!

My son started crusing at 7 months and he didn the same thing hed constantly fall when he reached the end of the furniture and then would crawl, he refused to walk when we held his hands hed put his legs out so he wouldnt stand , my husband and I were joking that he would never walk, a couple in our building told us that one day her daughter just stodd up and started walking out of nowhere and we were in disbelief. That night after we had been joking about him not walking he was cruising around the table and when he got to the end he just stood there for a few minutes he kept reaching his arm out then grabbing the table again and then OUT OF NOWHERE he let go of the table and walked across the room to my husband, I couldnt believe it , we looked at each other and were in total shock, the next few days he would take steps here and there, but never when we tried to videotape it or would try and coeerce him and then by weeks end he just started walking everywhere, we honestly thought he would just cruise and crawl forever!!!

One day your son will BLOW YOU AWAY and just walk when you least expect it. and at first it will be hilarious because more then likely he will stomp to keep his balance , just show him how proud you are and he will get braver and braver, but dont try to push him, I have found with my son if we try to get him to do something he will refuse and gets mad, then after he will do just that on his own terms, lil boys are stubborn like that lol

My son also turned 13 months on the 10th and he isn't walking. I asked my pediatrician at his one year visit and she said if he isn't walking by 15 months then she will look into it.....whatever that means. My son cruises the furniture and will sometimes walk if we hold both hands. Most of the time he acts like we are trying to kill him if we try to get him to walk so I leave it alone. When he cruises the furniture he falls a lot. He gets back up quickly but, he doesn't seem to have great balance. If he gets to the end of a piece of furniture he just drops down and starts crawling. I've never seen him even pause for a second like he is considering trying to walk. If there is nothing to hold onto he turns back the other way or instantly drops down and crawls. He has been cruising the furniture since 9 months so I thought he would be walking by now.

And Nikki my son may not walk but, he loves to climb like your son. And just like you I swear he is giving me a heart attack every two minutes!

My daughter crawls EVERYWHERE!!!!. she still won;t walk eiher. she will stand be herself unaided and will walk if i hold her hand and if she is holding on to things but not by herself. but i know she is not walking because she donlt want to. why walk when she can get there faster by crawling.

It is normal. Some babies don't walk till well over a year. But if you are that worried go to your Dr get his hips and legs checked out just for peace of mind... You will feel a lot better a friend of mine did.

My son started walking at 11 months and was running within two weeks, he runs around all day and i mean ALL DAY LONG, and all i do is chase him, outside he wants to run too, he hates the stroller or being in my arms and he refuses to hold my hand so its a constant struggle and because he runs so fast he falls and hes covered in bruises , he has no idea where he is going but it always has to be the complete opposite direction from me. and now he climbs too, onto the couch the chair the table and wants to walk across them, he gives me a heartattack every 2 minutes.

WE WANTED HIM TO WALK SOOO BADLY AND I CURSE THOSE WORDS , ENJOY THE LAST SECONDS YOU HAVE BEFORE YOU BECOME A MARATHON RUNNER.

Same boat here. My little girl just turned 13 months. She is starting to take some steps on her own, but really relies on me or her dad to hold her hands to walk her around. It's hard on my back (I'm pregnant with our second), so I am really ready for her to be walking on her own!

my lil boy is 13mths in 3 days he has took a couple of steps on his own but still not tht confident yet he would rather crawl he can get there quicker lol he walks round the funiture but nothink onhis own yet im rushing as he will get into more mischief GOOD LUCK X

i wouldnt worry. i heard some kids dont walk til theyre 18 months. tristan's gonna be 13 mo on the 11th, and he's taking a couple steps between cruising, but he's not quite confident enough to do it on his own yet. i'm trying to enjoy him just walking, cuz i know i'll have a handful when he starts walking and can get into even more things.

hi there....my girl is 13 months on 20th and not walking ether, i was bit worried but then my mum told me that is better not to rush them as u know all kids are different and they do everything when they ready also is he trying to "talk"??? if so he is putting all his concentration on language development so he just dont have any time to worry abt walking as bubbling is so much more fun...good luck

I have twins that will be 13months on the 12th they are still not walking yet, they too walk around the lounge and things. One will stand with no hands touching for about a minute but wont take a step. But my other children didnt walk till they were 13 and 15 months, so I am not worried. They will walk in their own time.

Hi Amanda, don't be too hasty to have your little one start walking - things will get a lot more chaotic once he is up and running! 13 months is not late for your little one to be walking - my little man is almost 13 months and is doing exactly the same as your guy! Did he have a recent heavy fall? If so, sometimes this can prevent them from walking for a few weeks. We have discovered our little man can walk (he took some steps thinking we were holding him) but he doesn't have the confidence yet - it will come when he is good and ready! Most bubs will walk by the time they are 15 months so no need to be concerned (and curiously boys can tend to walk later - closer to the 15 months than a lot of girls - obviously not true for all boy bubs). Don't push him and just provide a lot of stable pieces of furniture for him to walk around on and before you know it he will be running around!
