I have heard wonders about the teething tablets & may try them myself, now that my 20 month old is getting her 2 yr molars. She got all her teeth early-her first 2 before 3 months! We used cold binkys (stored in the fridge) & that helped, but now that they're further back the binkies don't reach as well. She never did much with teethers, even cold. When she is especially miserable, I sometimes give her Tylenol at bedtime, as it seems her pain is more at night also. You just don;'t want to make a habit of it-only give when he's miserable at bedtime. Sometimes I gave her a lesser dose than for her weight-just to take the edge off the pain enough to sleep. The other night was the first time she was miserable with her 2 yr molars-she's struggled with them but it got really bad & she kept crying & yelling, "Owwie!" So, at bed, we gave her a warm bath & some Tylenol & she slept through fine & woke up the next AM feeling better. Hope that helps.

I wouldn't go with the orajel just cuz it simply numbs the throat, i used it once, i was like no way. I would go with the tablets, those work well. Otter pops works wonders, they are only like an ounce of flavored water but frozen, my kids mowed those down, feels really good on gums and what not.

I always used teething tablets with my oldest and they worked great. I thought they had been recalled, though. I would stay away from Orajel which can toughen the gums and make it harder for the teeth to poke through. With my youngest, we started using an amber teething necklace when she first started teething and they work miracles! We haven't had to use any tylenol or other drugs. I just put her necklace on her when she starts to fuss with teething pain. She sleeps in it, as well. I even bought a larger one for myself to help with neck pain. The amber has a natural oil that soaks into the skin and helps relieve pain. This is the brand that I use. http://www.thechangingtableok.com/catego...

You can alternate tylenol and motrin (based on your pediatrician's recommendations). My 2009 toddler likes to chew on cold or frozen foods to help numb her gums. The all natural drops do work too.

We used the all natural tablets, they also have a gel. Or even baby Abosol, or however it's spelled. I don't like the medicine idea either, but I figure, if it hurts enough to wake them up, it may be necessary. They don't like to wake up several times a night either, so ibprofen is a good thing. My nephew had a vibrating teether he just loved during the teething stage!! They also make baby tooth brushes that go on your finger, maybe massage his gums with that. Good luck! It's tough!!

I am going through the same thing . Have you tried Highland teething tablets ? They are all natural . You can buy them pretty much anywhere . I take three small tablets out and dissolve them in a little water then let him take it like a big boy off a large spoon . It seems to curb the pain . If it is really bad I give him a half a dose of ibuprofen a 1/2 an hour before bed . I try everything all the time and dont want to give him actual medicine unless it is absolutely necessary . I hope this helps some . I am a first time mom and I feel like I just go through trial and error all the time with everything , lol . Let me know how you make out ! :)
